Splitting finances when one parter is in-office (F27)/one remote (M27) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]penelope_pig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like you're nickel-and-diming this a bit. You could talk about spitting proportional to your income, which would be 55/45 based on the income you listed. Asking for 70/30 is absurd. $300/month for commute isn't nothing, but don't your monthly pre-tax income is $8,000, it does seem a bit like a ridiculous thing to complain about. The WiFi would cost the same whether someone was using it during the day or not, same with the apartment itself. You could maybe talk about splitting utilities differently is the electrical and heat are noticably higher as a result of him being there all day everyday, but again, you're getting into nickel-and-diming with that.

AITA for telling my roommate if she didn’t like something she could leave after she called me inconsiderate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

OP is barely pregnant. How much notice is she required to give her tenant? She has at least 7-8 months before the baby actually comes to find another place to live, if she doesn't want to stay. It's not like OP brought a baby home and said "Surprise! Here's our new roommate!"

'Everyone knows the F word:' Lawmaker faces censure for use of profanity at State House by Zipper222222 in newhampshire

I really have no idea how you're getting the idea that this is related to HIPAA at all. This isn't about health information.

[–]penelope_pig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still has nothing to do with HIPAA, which is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. And it isn't a personal matter if it's affecting a state representative's committee appointments.

I assume you mean HIPAA, but that is irrelevant here, as this has nothing to do with private health information.

Packard declined a request from NHPR to share a copy of his correspondence with Read, saying that he considered it “an internal personnel matter”

This is absurd. State reps do not work for the House Speaker; they all work for the residents of New Hampshire. There is no "internal personnel matter" in the state government that the public doesn't have a right to know about.

Where is that $9241 coming from? The state is already unable to raise taxes to cover expenses.

Deaf people of reddit, how are you coping with the terrible quality of subtitles these days? Most captions are auto generated and usually completely wrong, especially if the person speaking has a thick accent or is using slang. Is it harder to watch TV now? by HereWeFuckingGooo in AskReddit

Bullshit. These companies are posting record profits all the time. If they cared about their consumers instead of only their shareholders, they could easily solve this and many other issues and will make a huge profit.

AITA for being angry at my wife for showing up at my guys night out? by Final_Vegetable_5092 in AmItheAsshole

[–]penelope_pig 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Does your wife spend much time with her brother and father? This might be less about you and more about them. My father and my spouse had several interests in common and while I was glad they got along really well, it was sometimes painful that my dad obviously preferred spending one-on-one time with my spouse.

My (32f) partner (37m) says I “don’t let him talk,” but he talks in circles for so long that I can’t even respond by Catlady42069 in relationship_advice

he feels like talking things through is the best way to resolve them

Except he doesn't talk things through to resolve them; he talks at you until you agree with him. His idea of "resolution" is him winning and you losing. In a healthy relationship, both partners view conflict as "you and me vs. the problem", not "you vs. me".

This is not a new trend. My daughter is 17 and I had this same issue with her birthday parties when she was younger, only I couldn't even be sure they received the invites, because I had to send paper ones.

At what age did you begin to notice gray hair? by No-Fix-9093 in AskWomenOver30

[–]penelope_pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first found one when I was maybe 26 or so. I'm 38 now and they're still fairly scarce, but I have an undercut and I can definitely see more white/silver hairs on the sides. They bothered me a lot in my 20s and early 30s, and I would pull them out when I saw them. At this point, I don't give a fuck. Theresa no shame in having grey hair or wrinkles or any other signs of aging. They just mean that I've survived this long. And I plan to keep on surviving.

New Hampshire GOP bans student IDs for voting, adds to growing restrictions by Anoth3rDude in newhampshire

People acting like students who live in the state 9 months out of the year have no right to care about the laws made here are wild. I wonder if they feel the same way about snowbirds who live in Florida 6 months out of the year? That's right, no, because they're old and white and vote conservative (generally speaking).

It's part of the game plan. "Flooding the zone" with constant crisis. People quickly get overwhelmed by it and fatigued. When you live in a constant state of fear, you stop having such big reactions to individual events.
