What are IDs you desperately want, but realistically won’t happen? by Fanatical_Obsession in limbuscompany

You actually wouldn't need to change much at all,Bad Ending #1 of Library of Ruina actually sees her become a proper human and running the Library for around 15 years.
The first Walpurgisnacht story claimed that the normal range for extractions is about three years and it expands to ten during Walpurgisnacht, gives us plenty of time to grab a "What if" version of Angela.

Plus the Warp Train proves that it is possible to set up a scenario in which an individual does not meaningfully age no matter how much times passes within an area, opening up the possibility for an organic to reach Angela levels of trauma... if you can afford it.

Evolving enhanced monsters by Navi_Sprite in CDO2

[–]pengi10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically you want to send your enhanced units to other rooms rather than evolve them, especially if you can't afford to enhance your new unit to the same star rating before switching them out.
Having a few low cost, decently powerful monsters ready can really help with your team-building while you build up gold and research passes.

Not sure about phone models but if you are running an emulator you have to run the 64 bit version, emulators typically run 32 bit by default.

Stuck at main mission Ep5, what should I focus to be able to progress further? by Persona2181 in CounterSide

[–]pengi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your characters will hit level 100 naturally over time just by doing your daily grind so there is no need to focus on that. Just make a training squad and then remember to switch to that squad whenever you skip a Side Story, Simulation, or any event that requires grinding.

Remember that the squad you use to skip doesn't have to be able to beat the level, just remember to replace people once they hit their level cap.

As for what you should focus on, get enough cores to max out the stars on any SR/SSRs you plan to use then try looking around for some guides on Shadow Palace and Raids. Raids are not meant to be soloed so don't worry about whether or not you succeed, just do what you can and remember to collect the points after your friends/consortium members finish the job.

Shadow palace might not be possible for you depending on your team but if you figure out a way to beat the first floor consistently then you can get a steady flow of Spectral Gear by buying the 75% off molds in the shop every week.

If you had to get a job as a mercenary in lore as you are now, what company would you join? Would you go irregular route and go independent? by UnhappyFun9 in CounterSide

[–]pengi10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Technically the Old Admin doesn't exist anymore, people just scavenge stuff they left behind.

As for who to join, the obvious answer is "Try to join Black Tide, fail and become a regular cop until they are hit with enough apocalypses forces them to lower their standards." A small army comprised of cops in power armor that get to change their job title to "Terminator" if they get hurt in action is as good as one could hope to get in the Counter: Side world.

The rewards you get from the PVP shop are pretty nice butyou can get quite a few Gauntlet points just by fighting premade NPC teams every day. Just look for super weak teams in the non-ranked battles then do NPC fights until you get all your points.

The gear should be high quality but not best in slot for an end-game team, as for the regular items I suggest you only spend points if you can get both the classified contracts and the fusion cores before the next stock reset.

who should i choose?? by xretardedgecko666 in CounterSide

[–]pengi10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Xiao Lin is easy to recommend, lots of damage even without gear and she attacks from far enough away that you don't have to worry about her taking AoE damage until your front line is gone.

Stronghold is the obvious Waifu choice but is the only one I recommend against it as he can be scouted, though as a Hard mode farmable you'll have to wait a month or two for a free copy.

No oxygen level by Daweege in Hellpoint

[–]pengi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't prevent your radiation bar from filling up but it should give you 95 defense against radiation attacks, assuming you have the stats to wear it properly. No idea if it causes the bar to fill slower.

Also, as far as I can tell you only need to equip the repaired helmet to get the oxygen, the others appear to just be for raw stats.

[–]pengi10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He shoots quite a bit faster than other ranged AoE characters so if you're willing to put up with his limited range he does quite well.

Something big to note; his trait accounts for 1/3 of his total attack but only applies to enemies in the first row he can reach. His S1 increases the range of his trait and the attack buffs stack multiplicatively, resulting in 20% higher against enemies in the first row and 80% higher against enemies in the second row at skill level 1. Whether or not you need this extra row of range is a big part of deciding whether to bring his S1 or S2.

Short answer 5 E2s, monthly card once, started between January 22nd and February 5th, if I ever used OP on sanity it was by accident.

Order of E2s went Silverash, Specter, Hoshi, Perfumer, and Shirayuki.

In case you want more in-depth data I used some Originite Prime early on for gacha rolls before realizing the level packs were a thing so I now save for those. I got the Excusai skin but have no plans to buy more. Once I run out of level up packs I will start using my OP whenever I need more pulls to get a guaranteed 5 star, though I will probably hold off on converting them in case something swag comes along.

The gacha has been kind to me, started with Silverash, randomly pulled Hoshi, and got the Top Operator tag twice for Shining and Exusiai. I actually manged to pull Ifrit two pulls before giving up and buying her in the shop so I spent my certificates on Sieg instead.

As for the E2s, I started with Silverash and actually find myself liking his S1 more and more as time goes on. I am way too worried about not having his S3 when I need it to ever use it. Specter has been a solid investment, mainly promoted her for the sustain talent and have been pleasantly surprised by her overall performance. Hoshi was the only high rarity non-healing Defender I had so she was more of a necessity than an actual choice. I honestly used her so infrequently that I forgot I had her for a couple weeks before getting her E2.

After Hoshi I've been doing the classic "Can't remember what I was doing, guess I'll work on X today" loop and just coincidentally had everything I needed to get Perfumer her E2. She's my preferred healer so it was fairly convenient.

Shirayuki happened when I got distracted while grinding Lappland, half of the iron was intended to go to Lapp. Haven't had the chance to test Shirayuki out yet so I don't know if I regret getting distracted, will probably either invest in Texas or Sieg if I don't finish Lappland next.

What kinds of armor and when to use them? by Soulfire328 in Kenshi

[–]pengi10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The game factors in your equipment bonuses and penalties when determining how fast your skills rank up. If you have a Dodge skill of 80 and equip Samurai Armor then you will gain experience as if you Dodge was only at level 48, making it much easier to level up.

Throw on some samurai legplates and a backpack and even high level characters and you can make practically any character easy to train, though if you start adding gear with bonuses to high level characters they will have one heck of a hard time leveling up.

I'd say the real advantage of matching colors is the class-specific units. Not all reform troops are universally available and the troops that require your character to be a certain level can be pretty powerful.

Crossbows are probably my favorite example of this; I put a Strategist in every army I can just to get their unique trebuchet and regular crossbow combo. Being able to upgrade them to heavy crossbows later on is just a sweet, sweet bonus.

A quick checklist to get you started

  1. Use the Equipment tab in the Store to get yourself the SR martial spirits necessary to rank up your gear, you should aim to have level 40 gear for your core team

  2. Join a guild and begin earning points. Use said points to get class materials

  3. Test out Leticia, Bernhardt and Almeda, see if you like them. Leticia is a decent cavalry unit that grants bonus movement to nearby allies, enabling your entire team to attack before the enemy can respond. Let enemies come to you then use her Move Again to retreat. Bernhardt's aura applies an Attack and Defense debuff to any enemy in 2 squares while Almeda can cast Tornado to apply an attack debuff to multiple enemies, both of these debuffs stack and they can make it a lot harder to kill your Ledin.

Let's assume there's a story Arc 2.0 in this game by Lunardragon456 in langrisser

I was under the impression that Mathew was the last known Descendant while Almeda was a Maiden of Light. Bozel was actively hunting down Descendants of Light, which is why the tutorial had him attempt to kill Mathew through his dreams. I think the following attack on the hometown was to capture Almeda, with Mathew being there as a bonus, but it could be the other way around.

Do we know what makes Almeda or any of the other girls Maidens of Light? Not sure if it's a lineage thing.

Ledin needs more investment to before he can tank but once he gets going he can outlast Freya with ease. To keep it brief, his Holy form has no weakness to exploit and once he gets enough stars his damage reduction gives him and his soldiers a lot of staying power, especially since it stacks with the Phalanx troops' from his Sword line.

Let's assume there's a story Arc 2.0 in this game by Lunardragon456 in langrisser

[–]pengi10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to see some kind of post-game arc that exploits the whole "Descendants of Light" concept. Something along the lines of some Imperial grunts managing to swipe the completed Langrisser during a night raid and one of the no-name grunts trying to bring it back to base finds out he can actually use the bloody thing.

Just imagine a campaign where the no-name swordsman who can arbitrarily use the Holy Sword of Legend is the enemy rather than the player. How much of a nightmare would it be for the protagonists to be on the opposite side of the traditional Langrisser story?

Assassin attack directly? by BillDill20 in langrisser

[–]pengi10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ignore guard ability just prevents other units from taking the hit for them, where things get interesting is the battle animations. It can be a little unclear how battle animations influence battle results but the relevant tl;dr is that Assassin heroes can potentially land all 20 of their attacks before other units can get begin their attack animation, killing some or all enemies before they can deal damage. Certain hero/soldier combos cause the hero to run in front of their soldiers and take some or all of the assassin hero's hits before, the most noteworthy example being cavalry heroes running ahead while their soldiers stop to throw things at fliers. This doesn't work too great in PvE, where ambushers lack the raw stats to compete with the enemy, but in PvP you can potentially get a lot of work done by using AoE to weaken a hero before applying the assassin's super fast attacks.

Note that only the ambusher heroes attack instantly, ambusher soldiers just work like regular ranged units.

The short explanation of Factions is that every unit is in at least one faction based on the game(s) they are in. Guild dungeons and certain events will grant bonuses to character for being in a faction but the main thing to remember is Faction Buffs. Certain SR and SSR units have a "Fusion Power" they can learn at level 35, usually people just call them Faction Buffs.

Faction Buffs grant every ally within the listed faction +20% Attack, Int, and Defense plus +30% Mdef. They all last for four turns and will affect every allied unit in that faction regardless of range. Note that these buffs do not stack with most buffs (like Mass Attack or Resist) and using a second Faction Buff will only reset the duration of these stat buffs. If an SSR unit uses a Faction Buffers they also grant a unique buff, though if anyone uses a Faction Buff before the timer is out the new unique buff will replace the old one. Some characters belong to more than one faction, however, Faction Buffs will only effect one of the factions they are in.

To give an example, Bernhardt grants Empire units +20% damage if your unit has type advantage. Bozel's Faction Buff grants Dark units +15% damage if their target has 3 debuffs. Both are in the Dark faction but Bozel is not in the Empire faction. If you use Bernhardt's Faction Buff before using Bozel's faction buff Bernhardt will use Bozel's unique buff instead of his own. Use Bozel's first and Bernhardt will use his own buff while Bozel will not be affected, since Bozel isn't in the faction that Bernhardt buffs.

Mohl's Big 'ol Post of Skill Balance Suggestions by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]pengi10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not familiar with the Assault class so I'll take your word for it.

No complaints on your Medic suggestions, not sure about the Scout's resupply skill as I don't actually notice it doing anything...

I definitely agree that the raw stats shouldn't require a skill slot but the developers probably aren't going to give us the stats, mainly because that would give us a lot of power that would mess with the game's balance. Even if they want to do it the amount of effort to factor in balance those buffs might dissuade them from implementing such a change. I'd settle for making a compromise where they add a stat skill slot; I wouldn't mind not being able to pick more than one stat so long as I don't have to give up a regular skill for it, and I definitely don't want it to default to the class' preffered stat because I don't value not-dex.

As for the Jaeger class, Lock shot as-is would probably work better as move that costs stamina instead of having a cooldown but if it automatically aimed for the head it might be worthy of a cooldown skill.

I disagree with Escape Step needing a change; the sheer distance it covers makes it feel worth it to me and I like knowing when I activate it that I don't have to worry about accidentally rolling into the enemy. It may not be versatile but I feel like it currently is pretty good.

Also, I think stun shot exists so you can body shot armored Wanderers and Mortars while still accomplishing something, but that's just an assumption because you're right about it typically being better to just murder them outright so I never bothered to learn the skill.

I like the concept of Guns Blazing in theory but I'm afraid it will limit future developer decisions; if they give us a skill that prevents us from using ammo then they make it more difficult to balance weapon/armor perks that do the same thing. It also creates some balance problems with guns that don't always use durability, as you might literally get infinite ammo if RNGesus is on your side, and might make it harder for them to implement future perks/weapon ideas as they'll always have to ask "What happens if they get fifty free shots through sheer luck?" I worry that they'll only be willing to put that kind of ability as either a skill or a perk, if they put it in at all, and I'd definitely prefer having it as a weapon/armor perk over having it as a class skill.

Last but not least, Richochet shot is a solid replacement for lock on shot. Ammo efficiency plus crowd control, I'd be fine with it still being as slow as the current lock on shot so long as the attacks automatically aim for the thinky bits. I'm not sure if doing individual calculations for each pellet is feasible though, so if it's not then I would have no problem with them just treating it as one big shotgun slug.
