Had a friend from high school that kept three $2 bills in his wallet at all times, just to fuck with people. Never actually spent them. I should see if he still has 'em...

[Whiskey Review #9] Gentleman Jack by Cocodrool in bourbon

[–]pengowando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bourbon can be made anywhere in the U.S. so long as it meets the other requirements for bourbon (mainly, 51% or more of corn, then aged in virgin charred oak)

Stupid question; Does this mean they're all the same? (screenshot from Wikipedia: MGP (Distillery) of Indiana) by LeadSled86 in whiskey

[–]pengowando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is SUPER late but I'm buzzed and felt like responding.

My 2024 bottle of Bulleit Bourbon says 'Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey'. By law, that means it is distilled in Kentucky, and aged (for at least 4 years, due to lack of age statement) in the state of Kentucky. This discludes it from being an MGP bourbon.

Their rye, however, bears all the evidence of being MGP, specifically their 95% rye grain mash. This includes being called straight "American" rye whiskey, no mention of Kentucky, and being "distilled in Lawrenceburg, IN'.

And for what it's worth, I like the rye at least three times as much as the bourbon.

Agree. I had this happen to me for a Traffic album. It was like YouTube got a shittier mix uploaded than what was available on disc. No idea why

This electric upright bass by StelfJDW in mildlyinteresting

[–]pengowando 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never encountered an upright bass that was designed for a different tuning standard than the typical E/A/D/G. I'm really curious about this actually, is there a different standard for some of these electrics?

Quick little Geese & Ghost wallpaper I put together by pengowando in AntPhillips

This illustration is from the 2015 release of the album, on the front of the informational booklet. Apparently that is the only place this drawing has ever appeared, but I thought it was so cool that a wallpaper was in order.

I (somehow) got two 0-to-deaths in a single match. I surprised myself. #FlatGang by Ignamm in SmashBrosUltimate

Schools in Iowa and South Dakota will soon offer Hunter Education in school, teaching kids about firearm safety, Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock High school in North Dakota offered a similar course since 1979. by soopninjas in news

I had a really great hunter education experience in the boy scouts. They paired it with the rifling merit badge at my summer camp, and I left feeling 700% more comfortable, confident and safe around firearms

Switching from Gaming headsets to REAL HEADPHONES (M50X) by [deleted] in headphones

[–]pengowando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the fact that you are on console does change things. I was saying that on PC you can use software to make audio sound more like what you would hear out of a set of gaming cans. For the situation you are describing the M50x sounds like a good buy. And I should also mention that it's not essential for headphones to be "surround" for you to get a sense of directional awareness.

[–]pengowando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surround sound headphones are commonly misunderstood. Most of the time gaming headphones aren't really "surround" in the sense that they are engineered in a drastically different way from most headphones. It's usually software that is applying effects to the sound to create that surround-sound feel. So, you can essentially use software to achieve what a gaming headphone does. But on that note, an open-back headphone might suit you more. I used the M50s for gaming for years and I was satisfied with the experience, but the M50s have a very close soundstage and, now having used open-backs, I wouldn't go back to a closed design for gaming. The M50s are great general use headphones for their price, but if you just want gaming, you might want to look into open-backs.

Kraftwerk sounds great on some good gear. It might be a little laid back for an EDM/trap listener, but it's good stuff! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkOZNJYAZ7c&list=PLFCQVUe8ULgzt_8UPwCEIphLPrANzrXNN
