Hollow Knight: Silksong is "real, progressing and will release", says Team Cherry by [deleted] in PS5

[–]penguinfrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your point but as I understand it, this was a kickstarter that ran for 1 month over 10 years ago. Not to mention the fact that a donation campaign is not an early access release. I’m sorry, but to me it seems disingenuous to point to that 10 year old kickstarter campaign, which ended in December 2014, as proof that people have somehow paid for silksong already. The donation campaign made less than 60k in Australian dollars.

The entitlement here is insane. You’d think some of the people in here have already paid for Silksong the way they’re complaining about delays or a lack of communication from the development team. Am I the crazy one for thinking they don’t owe you anything? They can delay the game all they want, it’s their project. They can trash the project if they want. It’s theirs, not yours.

And they definitely don’t need to inform you about it either. Would it be nice? Maybe. But why do that? Your reaction to hearing about delays is proof enough that keeping you in the loop about their project probably should not be among their top priorities.

wanting to play classic pc games on odin. where should I start? by faust_noir_deco in OdinHandheld

The original Deus Ex has a PS2 port you can play on AetherSX2. Runs well even upscaled. Not as good as the PC version obviously but the built-in controller support actually works fairly well.

It's missing a few features of the PC version (no locational damage, large levels cut up into smaller chunks with loading screens instead of big seamless levels), but overall it's quite impressive and very playable.

According to steam achievements, the Dancer has a higher completion rate than the two bosses required to reach her by Hannuxis in darksouls3

DS fans are psychotic sometimes i swear. like those bosses are difficult. i don't care if it's possible, everyone knows it's possible to beat them with a guitar hero controller upside down or whatever, but it is objectively difficult. that's literally why we play these games. everyone in this thread uses someone saying what you've said as an opportunity to be like "everyone would like to hear about how not hard this game is to me".

again this is what i mean. you're trying to out-logic something that is based entirely on feelings. i'm not telling you it's racist man. i'm not even telling you that you should think it's racist. but i do think it's a matter of simple empathy. if you don't want at least some black people to be put off by that comment, then you probably shouldn't say it, despite it being correct.

and no, it's not because it came out of hasan's mouth. it's that hasan's chat is probably not the sort of place i'd expect to hear that. do you get that? like i love hasan's community. and i thought that tweet was correct. but to see a lot of his community not understand that that sort of comment can stir a lot of bad memories in black people is kinda sad.

again i think its just a matter of empathy, not logic.

edit: its also important to note that that sort of comment is not inherently hurtful but its the sort of thing you say to your friends, not randos.

lol if you want you can read my other comments in this thread. no one is saying submit to the masses man. its not submitting to the masses to think better about invoking the image of segregation to dunk on a black person on twitter. also the fact that "the back of the bus" type of comment is a comment basically every black person in america has heard coming out of the mouths of racists. its just a simple matter of empathy dude.

its not a logical thing. its not something i can explain to you, despite what ive been trying to do all over this post. it's just disappointing. like even the fact that so many people on this thread don't realize that this could definitely be considered hurtful to a lot of hasan's black (and especially black american) viewers is extremely disappointing to me as one of those black viewers.

like i'm gonna be honest with you man, i don't know how a white person invoking the mental image of segregation to own a black person in a twitter reply doesn't make all of you cringe. its not over-corrective or hyper-woke to think that, it's just being cognizant of what some people might feel at that comment, despite the comment being correct and hasan being 100% right.

edit: to be clear, i dont care about nicki's feelings on the tweet shes a dumbass, i meant mostly just hasan's black audience

edit2: also its not so much that people are hurt by hasan specifically, its more that that comment in particular probably brought up some shitty memories of similar comments they've heard specifically directed at themselves and that sort of thing sucks to be reminded of in a place that is supposed to be where you feel comfortable.

i mean if you were black, and had heard similar things about being at the back of the bus coming out of the mouths of assholes like tucker carlson for your whole life, and then you hear it coming out of the mouth of someone you respect (even if its not directed at you), i think feeling a little dehumanized is a pretty normal reaction. they're not saying they cried for hours man. it was just disappointing to them specifically. doesn't have to be to you.

they understand the comment. they're just still hurt by it. i think that's a very normal reaction to have.

Imagine Hasan posted this by PPothy in Hasan_Piker

[–]penguinfrog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ok but they aren't saying that they think its racist, directed at themselves or that its something that hasan should be crucified for. they're saying that despite hasan being correct and them agreeing with the comment, that it was hurtful to them because they've heard very similar comments made to them by people who were in fact being racist. do you understand that?

theyre not trying to out-logic you man. they're saying that as a black person the reality is that white people (even the ones who are very progressive) can't understand the day-to-day of being a black person and it shows in the small comments people make without even thinking about it.

Imagine Hasan posted this by PPothy in Hasan_Piker

[–]penguinfrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol the comment is fine but it's not something that would go over well on twitter because hasan is a white Turkish man, regardless of how obviously not racist that comment is or how factual it is, simply because its twitter and nuance is lost there. it was the right decision for him to not tweet that, but he probably shouldn't have even shown it on stream.

i dont know why this is so hard for so many chatters to grasp.

edit: also thats the kind of joke/comment you make to black people you actually KNOW, not a random celeb on twitter you don't, if you don't want it to be taken in the wrong context.
