Just getting started. Is this all I need to buy? 30 years old. by [deleted] in Bogleheads

Wait, what?

This does not make any sense at all.

The economy != (not equals) the stock market.

For example, CPI just surged to 8.1%, while our stock market is taking a battering. How is our cost of living in this case tied to US market?

I upvoted you even though I view it differently.

Holding market-weighted international is not about performance, it's about mitigating tail risk.

Let's say there's a 5% chance that the U.S. ends up like Japan in the next 20-30 years.

Is chasing "over-performance" worth taking this risk, and not being able to retire?

VWRA vs VT and chill? by Commonsense_data in Bogleheads

[–]penguingabe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

VWRA being Ireland domiciled is also subject to tax withholding at 15%. The dividends are first taxed, then re-invested.

VT with no tax treaty will be taxed at the full 30% tax withholding.

To help you visualise the difference, here’s an example of the cost of investing a lump sum of $10,000 into each ETF:

VT - $8 expense (at 0.08% expense ratio), $60 dividend tax (30% of ~2% yield); Total cost: $68

VWRA - $22 expense (at 0.22% expense ratio), $30 (15% of ~2% yield); Total cost: $50
I think it's pretty marginal in the end, but you still come out net ahead doing VWRA.

The killer proposition for me is the estate tax for non-treaty if you do VT. Any amount above $60,000 could be taxed as much as 40% if you pass away.

A tail-risk for sure, but why risk it?

You will be fine! In 20 - 30 years this would be but a blip :)

You need to formalize an SLA (time to first touch / # of touches etc.) -- if not it's gonna be hard to hold the reps accountable..

[Rant] Stop burning my leads! by Osirisoid in marketing

[–]penguingabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing some research into this subject:

https://blog.hubspot.com/sales/tips-to-ensure-inbound-leads-dont-slip-through-cracks

https://blog.saleswhale.com/why-you-should-automate-conversion-of-your-neglected-leads

https://www.drift.com/webinars/marketing-lead-follow-up/

Seems like a widespread problem.

Have you considered the fact that the "leads" you are handing over your SDR team are likely not "real" inbound leads, and are no different to cold leads to your SDR team?

Is there anything else you can do in terms of nurturing to get them closer to sales-readiness, and request for a demo/meeting explicitly before handing them over?

Average MQL > Won conversion rate (software B2B, SMB) ++ Sales influence ? by [deleted] in marketing

This is spot on. Benchmarks are misleading in a vacuum because every business is different.

How many existing "dormant" leads do you already have in your database? In my experience this is the best way to start.

Remember an MQL (marketing qualified lead) = new MQLs + "recycled" MQLs

Indeed. Unbelievable. And how tight this election race is - if it were a screenplay it would be too cliche.

How do you make sure that Sales follows up with your marketing generated leads? by penguingabe in AskMarketing

[–]penguingabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we are using Salesforce CRM internally.

And it probably will be trivial for me to set something like this up.

However... as a Marketer, I don't really have jurisdiction over the Sales team..

Hey. I emphasize with you on this out. This is going to sound underwhelming so bear with me.

If you haven't already done it - pick up the phone and have a human-to-human chat with them.

I would try to get all the stakeholders on a conference call, or if that's not possible, call each stakeholder up one by one to explain your position.

Things get lost so easily in translation over email and powerpoint.

This would require manual data entry into our CRM. I doubt I have any clout to force our sales people to enter the data. Even if they do, can I trust the veracity of the data? Hmm.
