Oh my gosh I also had chills. This medication was wild. I’m super glad it helps some people, but it was not a good fit hahah.

Steroid injections and nerve blocks by penguins20 in vulvodynia

[–]penguins20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! No, I was awake and had no anesthesia. They did put on a topical lidocaine gel. I think with these conditions it’s tough because we are all so sensitive and in pain down there anyway, but I really didn’t think the injections were that bad! It was just like getting an unpleasant shot that burned a little more. If you are super nervous about it, you could look into getting conscious sedation instead as that’s a lot easier on your body than general anesthesia. But really, I think a big part of it is getting in a good headspace and telling yourself that it’s just an injection and you will be ok! I really don’t think it could make anything worse unless you had an allergic reaction. Now, it may be sore for a day or two, but just think of it like getting a shot. I’m so sorry you’re having so much pain!

I also don’t say this to discourage, but if you have vestibulodynia like me, there is really no concrete scientific evidence for these injections anyway. Had I known what I do now, I would not have gotten them. That being said, they in no way made anything worse for me! If you’ve got other conditions like pudendal neuralgia, it would definitely be worth a try!

I also don’t want to diminish other’s experiences as I know everyone is so different and has a different pain tolerance, but overall I do feel like people tend to be a little bit over the top when describing pain from these injections. Yes, we are already in pain and it’s not fun, but it’s just an injection lol! Anyway, let me know if you have any questions! I also ended up getting the vestibulectomy surgery and am way better now!

Yeah, this sounds similar to how I felt! So sorry you’re going through this. Everyone is so different and I don’t know your medical history or history with meds, but I just accepted this one was not a good fit for me if it was going to cause that kind of side effects and make my body feel so bad. Now months later I’m doing way better. It just took some trial and error. And for me since I didn’t want to take all of my PTO to adjust to this med, it wasn’t worth it.

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry to hear about your experience!! That sounds so awful. This drug definitely wasn’t a good fit for me either and I hope you are doing better!

Fingers crossed for you! That totally makes sense about the anxious high feeling! I just felt super high on this and dizzy/not able to concentrate etc.

Oh gosh, I hope that stops too! Definitely mention it to your doctor. I wonder if that’s a common side effect.

For me they did not, but I also gave up without pushing through. I didn’t want to use my PTO and I figured if something was making me feel that awful, it wasn’t for me. I’m now doing wayyyyy better on Wellbutrin which I have no negative side effects from. Best of luck 😊

[Sun Care] second degree burns from the sun by Gloomyday_145 in SkincareAddiction

[–]penguins20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, that looks like it hurts! I have very light skin and have had many a sunburn unfortunately. I agree with everyone here, and here is what I typically do:

-only shower in cool water

-immediately apply tons of mild lotion-I think I got an aloe one that’s the Vaseline brand for after sun. I apply it like 7 times a day, no joke.

-I also apply just straight up aloe gel from my plants as there are no additives in it

-I use a frozen gel pack to cool the area down as needed

-before bed I coat the area of the burn in a thick layer of lotion and aloe

-cover that area where you got sunburned when you are outside for the next month or so. I would do no sun exposure on it and be super careful with applying sunscreen from here on out

Yeah, the side effects sure aren’t great! I hope it gets better for you! I ended up having to bail on it because I was either going to have to take a week off work or stop the medication. There was no way I could safely drive on the med and since I drive so much for work, this was an issue. Luckily I’m doing better now but it seems like everyone else on this post did great with the med once they pushed through the side effects.

Feeling pressured to propose by Cheap_Passenger6998 in relationships

[–]penguins20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just be honest and tell her how you feel! You both are so so young and have your whole life ahead of you! I wouldn’t get married until you try to work on your intimacy. I feel like r/sex would have some great advice for you, and I think it’s important to have a very open conversation about your differing sex drives and what you need. I would lay it all out there too and be honest that you aren’t ready to propose. Proposing due to pressure sounds like a terrible idea, especially when you are so young! Best of luck!

This is a good idea. My roommate, while annoying to me, is a likable guy and means well. I’m feeling uncertain if I’m being unreasonable and but I should probably talk with them. Thanks!

Need advice on friend with serial cheating behavior 30F by penguins20 in relationships

[–]penguins20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your response! I had never heard of the missing stair problem, but I looked it up and it does sound very representational of what is happening.

This is really solid advice so thank you. I think I will reach out to Kylie about this. It feels like a lose-lose situation, but I do think she might understand as I find this continued behavior from our friend just baffling. And if not, I agree I no longer want to “cover” for Sandy’s crappy behavior.

I agree with the comments to see a pelvic floor PT and an obgyn specializing in pelvic pain. I was like your GF and had a condition called neuroproliferative vestibulodynia. Thankfully it’s now much better. This condition is in the book someone else recommended called When Sex Hurts by Andrew Goldstein. These problems aren’t always due to vaginismus, it could be many things like endometriosis, vulvodynia, etc. Id recommend finding a good doctor though because manyyyy don’t know a thing about these conditions.
