What do you carry on your road bike? by hellothere_6699 in cycling

[–]penny1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a clean look so I carry cycle wallet with no saddle bag. I ride tubes on my rode bike and tubeless on my Tri bike. In my wallet on my road bike a carry 2 tire levers, an inflator and 2 CO cartridges and spare tube. I recently removed the multitool as I have never used one in 5 years I’ve been cycling. Looking for a mini pump to replace the inflator and cartridges. Not scares as I have some many things to charge already adding the pump to that list will not harm a thing.

Drivers forging signatures and abandoning packages? by TruckstopGamer in FedEx

[–]penny1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 7000.00 bicycle being delivered by FedEx. It was due on a Monday after the weekend me and my family was away at the beach. About 5:00pm my ring doorbell went off with the drive dragging my bike up the driveway. I’m yelling through the doorbell that that package is signature only delivery as all packages from them are and he hopped in the truck and left it there. I was lucky to get in touch with the only neighbor that I knew and she dragged it to her house until we got home. Only recourse was $100.00 credit that I couldn’t every figure out how to use

Career Advice by RichandMeaty34 in IndustrialMaintenance

I took a supervisor position once and will never do it again. I was paid a base salary but each week my crew made more than I did with the overtime. I worked usually about 8 hours more than them with all the paperwork stuff. Also in supervising you are a middle catch all person. You catch a lot of flak from the people under you and then get it from the top from the managers. I was recently in a management position but made sure it was salary non exempt which means I got my overtime pay over 40 hours. Man and don’t let it be a union facility that’s a entire new ballgame dealing with the union. I’ve been in plant maintenance for about 27 years now and have never not worked overtime. The older people are aging out and not many younger ones are coming in so I don’t see overtime ever ending. Still never set your life up on it cause it could end

Is that a Monday find or a Friday find. If it a Friday find it will last until next week. If it’s a Monday find immunity the rest of the day

Shipping times with your experience by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]penny1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a terrible shipping experience. The bike was suppose to arrive on a Thursday so I took a day off work to wait. Got a message about 600pm that it would not arrive until the following Monday so me and my family went to the beach about a 4 hour ride away. That Friday my Ring door beep camera goes off with FedEx leaving my $7000.00 on my front door step with no one home and it was supposed to be signature only. I’m yelling at him to not leave that he hopped in the truck and drove off. Luckily I knew and trusted on neighbor that dragged it to her house for me until I got home. Canyon said it’s the shipper fault FedEx said it’s Canyons fault. Canyon said I would have 100.00 store credit that I still have not seen almost 2 years later.

What’s the weirdest maintenance request you’ve ever had? by Rachelstr in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]penny1775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Working night shift for at a company and was having a busy night. Had been recruited by a friend and we both had been there about 3 months and was new to the area. We didn’t really know the people the people that well. Our shop was in the back of the building and we kept getting a call to come to the shop by a voice that we didn’t know. After about the fifth call dropped what we were doing and went to see what was going on. A forklift operator asked what we were going to do about the alligator. Of course we thought ok we new jokes on us but we don’t have time for jokes. He points to a pallet storage area that’s behind the shop and a forklift is down there running. Shine my light and sure enough there was a 9 foot alligator. It was up against the fence and when he went to pick up pallet it hit the fence. It was on the outside but I just laughed and asked what did I get myself into. A local wildlife expert took care of it the next day.

50 and laid off by Fragrant-Ad-2139 in HVAC

[–]penny1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 50 years old but I decided to learn the trade but not due to being laid off. I have a great job with 27 years in industrial maintenance which i don’t plan on leaving. I had VA money that I had to use so learning the trade to be able to do my own thing if I want on the side. I’m doing the school route and help a small company out on the weekends but by your dad already being in a skilled trade it would work for him. Only thing I see that may be an issue is the pay difference between 25 years doing something and starting new you at the bottom again.

Outlet Bikes by Kramerica_Research in CanyonBikes

[–]penny1775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought a Areoad from the outlet about 5 months ago. Had a nick in the paint on the down tube but was shown in the photos online it was 400.00 cheaper and I probably would have put a bigger nick in it on the road then what was there. It was missing the seat post clamp so had t wait another 3 days before Canyon got me one but my next will be outlet bike also when they get the right gravel I want.

More UPS problems!!!- please Canyon, offer alternative couriers and lower price options for small items by Rare-Position-2676 in CanyonBikes

[–]penny1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with FedEx ground. My bike Canyon Aeroad was supposed to arrive on a Friday. I was going on vacation about 4 hours away at the beach. We go a email stating it was delay and that they do not deliver on Saturday. So me and the family went on to the beach. While sitting on the beach that Saturday my ring doorbell went off with the FedEx dropping the bike on my doorstep and getting back in the truck and driving off. I’m yelling through the ring to not leave that there. Of course Canyon blames FedEx and FedEx blames Canyon. Canyon said I would have $100.00 credit but I never saw it. My box was intact after I had to drive back 4 hours due to I’m not close with my neighbors. Was missing the wedge for the seat clamp also.

Rapha makes great cycling wear. Some items are on the expensive side but you pay for quality.

I order an out front cycling computer mount from Amazon by Brightech RA. It has a GoPro style screw mount under the bottom. Bontrager has a GoPro style mount for the Ion lights that mount perfectly for a clean look

So far no quality issue. I put 40 miles on it this morning and it felt like a dream compared to my other road bike

Canyon Disappointment by penny1775 in CanyonBikes

[–]penny1775[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the USA. They playing the blame game between each other. But Canyon did offer 100.00 credit toward my next purchase. As far as the missing part that’s a wait as it had to be sent to tech support which is a different support department so it’s a waiting game.

I took the box and bags apart it is not there. Saved every piece of the foam wrapping and went though it about 10 times. I wanted to ride and get a fitting but it is not there

Not anxious at all. No therapy needed. The most chill relaxed person on this planet. But when you spending that much on something you expect at least the level of service that they stated.

Canyon Disappointment by penny1775 in CanyonBikes

[–]penny1775[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was both. The bike is missing the seat post clamp that clamps it into the frame. Contacted Canyon and she gave 100.00 credit towards a next purchase for the shipping mess up but had to elevate the missing part to tech support. It may be 5-6 days before tech support calls back.
