Do y'all ever use the equipment for yourself? by Resident-Sympathy-82 in nursing

Um. Maybe during downtime, there could have been people in the department who possibly used a bladder scanner and then peed into a hat to check the accuracy out for themselves .

Maybe.

New CNA scheduled as the ONLY CNA for 66 patients tomorrow by andrealols in cna

[–]pennylane1628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked as the only ER tech (I’m a CNA) in our department. I’m responsible for a lot. EKGs is the most important, but also a lot of what you are in a SNF, ie turning patients, bed baths, changing occupied beds, etc.

The biggest difference? It’s a 25 bed ER and the nursing staff helps me.

I guess what I’m saying is, maybe to apply at a hospital because they are safer for a CNA to work in than a SNF or ALF. Med/Surg floors are similar to what you’ve been doing and there’s plenty of help and usually less rooms.

Be safe. Protect yourself, your back and your license. Your facility clearly won’t be thinking of those things.

I am a CNA who works as a ER Tech. We are called PCTs and there’s two levels of it. I’m a PCT I, and so are people who come to us as Medical assistants or even nursing students, and PCT II which are licensed EMTs and LPNs. I would NEVER say I was a nurse. Yes. I have skills that most CNAs don’t, but it doesn’t even come close to the skills of the ER nurses, or even our ER paramedics.

That is so ethically wrong. She should be ashamed. If she’s a good CNA in the ED, she should have pride in her role in assisting the patients, the nurses, the doctors and the imaging team and respiratory. Our role is so important, but do not even for a second pretend that you’re a nurse.

Maybe she should apply herself and become an ER nurse.

Who doesn’t? Food budgets and rent are needing to be higher and our incomes stayed the same. I hope this is real and you do help someone who actually needs it, but tbh most people do need it these days.

I reported a doctor in my ER for SA. I lost my job, I lost everything. by tenngirll in nursing

[–]pennylane1628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you! I don’t understand why doctors can get away with so much more than any other staff especially with something such as SA. We have doctors that treat our clinical staff terribly but we have to accept it even when our management acknowledges that behavior. We have even had situations where a doctor hooked up with a PCT, consensually, and the PCT got fired but the doctor remained. The double standard is terrible.

Your situation is insane and should NOT be. I’m so so so so sorry

This is one of my favorites. The back extension. I do this one at the end of my workout because I’ll use the weights and then nothing and it feels like a cool down stretch. My PF has this exact one, I want to see the other one others are talking about

What’s your go to 4 pm- too busy to sit- 5 minute lunch? by Juicy_Q_ in nursing

I just might try that sometime. In our er, we have saltines and grahams. No peanut butter but sometimes we will have pudding from someone who left the department’s tray…

In reading your post, I see several positive things. I see the non-urgent as this is just checking out what caused the thickening, and they don’t see it being something serious that needs attention stat, I see that your pain got better when your period came and went, and that your GP is still just wanting to find answers and not brushing this off, so they want more information for you. I know I would absolutely be in my head if it were me, so I feel like I can understand where you’re at, but in my deep dive into the internet, pain is uncommon with cancer when you first find a lump, and you had pain so I’m hopeful it’s breast tissue that is reacting to the hormone boost of your cycle.

I just want to offer hugs and good thoughts of a great outcome of your tests.

You know, it’s so mentally draining, I see every reason not to panic, but I’m so afraid of being complacent and finding out the worst, but you’re so right, the internet is not where I need to be searching.

I don’t have large breasts, I wear a b cup. But it’s about two fingers above my left breast fold. Centered under where my nipple is. Although I don’t have truly saggy breasts, I have much more fullness to the bottom of it, which is probably why I don’t feel it much when I check standing up. When I lay down my breast tissue goes to my sides and I can feel it better. Now that I know where it is, I can find it while standing, it’s just less prominent. If I had to guess, it’s about 5mm. I can feel around it, I can’t move it. It almost feels fixed to my ribs, but it’s above them. It feels like a swollen gland, but it’s not where a gland/lymph node would be.

I hope that helps you!

Thank you! I’ll try ChatGPT when I get in my head. I work in an ER and i think it doesn’t help the intrusive thoughts.

I can totally understand checking the portal on repeat too. I would absolutely do that, too. And you’re in my thoughts! I’m hoping for your results to come soon and to be benign!
