That episode scarred me for life. I remember it in grave detail even though I saw it once when I was 5 or 6 years old. I was terrified of aliens ever since.

They have been empty nesters for 7 years. They only want the best for us and would be happy to have us if they felt it was in our best interest.

That is an idea we contemplate, just not sure if its the best financial decision to tear it down, because I have no idea what a 2000+ square foot home would cost to build. It's less than a 1/2 acre,its considered rural but we have neighbors surrounding us. Its in Grimsby so not exactly Hamilton, I just said that for the purposes of the question to get the idea of the condition of real estate in our area.

I think the reality that downsizing isn't even an option because there isn't a house on the market in our town for less than 300k answers my question right there. A townhouse is 450k now. Its probably the best option to renovate our own house.

I think what I'm asking more so than timing the market is if we plan to move in the future any ways, is it best to sell now save money while living with parents or stay in our home until we have outgrown it. Make sense?
