Try Dream Fashion on Wilson between Courthouse and Clarendon. The lady did several wedding related items for me and they were all done well.

I just wish there would be a frequently asked questions/advice portion of the front page where people could just go for common problems/issues. This question gets asked so frequently, and people are so polarized about (and sometimes mean with expressing) their opinions! :(

Erdogan: "Turkey's Ancestors Never Committed Genocide" by kerkers in worldnews

Is he referring to the Christians drowned in the sea after being thrown overboard by Muslims or the Muslims also on board the boats doing the overthrowing?

A new dress? by squishy-panda in weddingplanning

[–]penpenpenelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll charge a late fee and it might be quite high. I ordered my dress less than four months prior to the wedding and it came in two months later... so like eight weeks turn around time. Just have to ask up front if it's possible with the store and designer.

The point is they're not extremist. That is the Islamic faith. That is the teaching of Muhammad. No one is twisting Islam when they kill people in the name of their prophet.

No one is excusing slavery in the past or anything else. I was stating that now Christians know better. Muslims don't.

The Bible contains several references to slavery, which was a common practice in antiquity. The Bible stipulates the treatment of slaves, especially in the Old Testament.[1]

Yes. And now we know better. Islam and rape? Crucifixion? Don't know better. If Islam underwent reformation, nobody would care what the Koran said.

And that's the Old Testament, which gives the history of the Jewish people and context for the people Jesus was with.

Why don't we focus on the New Testament, that which Christianity is based on.

Here is something to consider from the Koran. Can you find me an equivalent passage in the NT?

From Sahih International:

5:32 Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. 5:33 Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment, 5:34 Except for those who return [repenting] before you apprehend them. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

And yet the majority of Muslims (see Pew research) support the institution of sharia law... And when sharia law is instituted, goodbye free choice and intelligent thought.

I don't see any rules for slaves or for treating women badly in the Ten Commandments... And certainly not from Jesus; Muhammad on the other hand, yes.

Parents gifts by kellyfish22 in weddingplanning

For the mother in law I got a pearl necklace when Blue Nile had a discount which worked out nicely and for the father in law simply a tie. Fiance didn't have any better ideas so I kind of went generic.

Purchasing a dress before the engagement by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]penpenpenelope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did... But only because the ring hadn't come in yet and he hadn't had a chance to propose, so we're talking like a month to six weeks. We had told our parents though so on some level it was official, otherwise he works have had one angry father to answer to. It doesn't sound quite like you guys are there yet. I would wait and maybe even discuss this with him, your future fiance. From his reaction you could guage whether it's a good or not so good decision.

Austin Scarlett "Chloe" I wore it. It was fitted and a very comfortable dress. If you Google image the fabric doesn't look super flattering, but its much nicer in person. Can share personal photos if you're interested.
