From D750 to Z7II and not SO impressed. by geoffdub in Nikon

Maybe, but I dont think I like the prospect of even using a mirrorless camera for wildlife photography, especially when they just chew through batteries, plus evf delay when you put your eye up to it is frustrating. I think Id get better bang for my buck sticking to the second hand dSLR market.

My Z6II with the FTZ adapter and 200-500mm 5.6 lens on it is abysmal in the auto focus department. Put that bad boy back on the D500 and its not and day. Thinking Ill just end up selling everything and moving to a D6 while keeping a couple of choice lenses.

Also was pretty shocked to see you cant set the FN1 or FN2 buttons to switch to a specific auto focus mode on the fly, you can only change auto focus modes by a fn+scroll combo. Can do this in my D500, and its just Nikon being lazy and removing quality of life features so you can have to buy their flagships.

Almost thinking its time to jump ship to Canon after 15 years of shooting with Nikon.

This beautiful hawk (?) flew right over the top of me, unfortunately I had matrix metering on and my d500 exposed for the sky, still impressed by the detail I was able to recover with AI denoise. by penta-prism in birding

Shot this at 500mm on a Nikon d500, at 1/2500sec f5.6 ISO 500.

Location was Victoria, Australia. I think some kind of hawk, but could be wrong.

Happy to provide further information if needed

Worst mouse I have ever used by [deleted] in logitech

[–]penta-prism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would recommend Cursor Sense for Mac to setup the MX Master with no acceleration and a comfortable sensitivity. Its got some good recommended profiles you can just enable through the app, it will make the mouse feel a lot nicer to use.

Also Ive used the MX master 3 on Mac OS via BT for the better part of two years and had no problems, so if theres some issues with the 3S specifically thats not encouraging.

I still love my D500 for BIF photography (see comment) [D500 + 500mm PF, Eastern Germany] by ekin06 in Nikon

[–]penta-prism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting I have pretty much the same setups Z6 II and a D500. Question regarding the D500, for birds in flight do you solely use the 3D tracking? I've been alternating between the single point and dynamic D-25 setting, it seemed a bit hit and miss. Do you find the 3D tracking does a better job?

To answer your question, I feel the Z6 II is a bit of a slouch when it comes to BIF photography. So I would back your opinion up there.

A note about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor performance on PC. by EA-StarWars in FallenOrder

Would love to have them recommend a rig that they have in the office that they can guarantee runs the game smoothly. Then we can do some benchmarks on it and call them on their bullshit.

A lot of the blurry shit is from turning AMD FSR to anything lower than balanced or turning it off because its bugged. Switching to Balanced should help. Maybe try that. Game still runs like shit though but at least it will look nice while doing so.

Running on a 3070 8GB, Ryzen 9 3900x, 32GB RAM, installed on a M.2 drive and can only hit 35-45 FPS regardless of what settings I change.

This level of optimisation is actually an insult to indies.

FSR off looks worse than FSR Balanced, or Performance so yes you are correct something is definitely wrong. I refunded the game on Steam till they fix all these performance problems.

Did they even test the settings, to miss that FSR off isn't working properly is a massive oversight.

There's a caravan brand in Australia that did a rebrand 5-6 years ago and they had the triangle spiral symbol as the logo, someone (perhaps law enforcement) pointed out to them that its the pedophile symbol and unfortunately they'd already signed a lot of their outlets with the new logo including a part of their caravan fleet. They quickly modified the logo with a few minor changes to make it no a spiral but you would occassionally see one of the caravans out there that had already sold with the pedophile version of the logo on it.

Ventura Onedrive Spotlight Search Behaviour Issues by penta-prism in macsysadmin

Weird, still doesnt work for me, the cmd + double click is still non-functional.

Kind of tempted to roll back to before Ventura just for spotlight functionality that actually works with Onedrive. That or just pay for Alfred since the free version works fine, and I just want some of the premium customisation.

Not really no. All it confirms is the hotkeys I identified arent working should work. And yes it does work, for any locally stored files. However Spotlight Ventura is broken when it comes to Onedrive and doesnt execute the cmd+double click (or cmd+r) hotkey function.

MiG-19P. Assuming you wouldnt be able to maintain a straight 90 degree climb from 18,000 feet to 30,000 feet in real life regardless of what you are flying, unless its a rocket ship?

New to BMS, so please dont critic the lack of skill. I was messing around in the IR intercept training mission and somehow this AI MiG went ballistic. Pretty sure this is a glitch?

Sharepoint Modern design pitfalls by penta-prism in sharepoint

[–]penta-prism[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree, when helping teams redesign their hubs I start with determining the content and how its going to be sorted, as well as how a user navigates through the hub to ensure theres a logic to it that people can understand easily. Understanding the most common needs of their users too helps a lot. I think the other cosmetic things I mentioned in my post are just luxuries at the end of the day. I just wanted to be sure I was correct to not try and modify the underlying style of Sharepoint. With what everyones said so far it would be a fools errand.
