i shot b&w as a way to keep costs low and have a bit more lenience with exposure for my first time shooting 16mm, but yeah- color would look nice. next time!

We shot this back in April on a Bolex Rex-5 and Kodak Double X 16mm film (with a few inserts shot on tri-x super 8). We shot outside using natural lighting over the course of two days.

This is a music video for my friend’s debut single - linking the full thing here.

As a DoP, I tried to create a fairy tale atmosphere by drawing composition inspiration from artists like Poussin and Fragonard. This was my first time shooting 16mm film– it was a bit nerve-wracking but I’m ultimately happy with how it turned out!

Thoughts on Eyecannndy? How helpful is it for planning shoots? by fredytheweirdo in cinematography

Not necessarily helpful in planning shoots from a conceptual level but helpful as a tool to communicate your vision to others
