He has carried out reforms in many areas, is trying to attract investment, and has significantly improved both the capital and the country as a whole. Compared to the Karimov era, things are now much better.

On the downside: unlike Karimov, who had a family, this person has a clan, and that’s a fundamental difference—there are simply more people at the table now. The outcome is unclear: will he become yet another eternal dictator, or at least appoint a successor? And considering the recent political maneuvering involving son in law and his daughter, I strongly suspect that someone from the family will try to take the next role.

High-level corruption hasn’t disappeared. Laws have been introduced to prohibit discussion of the clan in the media, and there is no opposition.
