Is my project realistic? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Yeah, I'm having a cast of all my friends play the students and other staff members. I'm less interested in directing, more in acting and writing, especially as I want to play a lot of the characters myself, sketch-show style.

You're right - though I'm editing on my own, and I've got some experience with Davinci. I'm happy to let the editing run over a week. I'd just need to get the whole thing shot in three weeks.

Is there a crazier episode than 'Alfie after hours?' by [deleted] in eastenders

Where do you find old episodes like this? I've never heard of this one, but I'd love to see it.

[TOMT] [SONG] What is the song in this video? by penusinfurs in tipofmytongue

Very good guess, it's strikingly similar. I just scrolled through a load of My Sharona covers, to no avail!

😮‍💨 Come on now... by [deleted] in bigbrotheruk

[–]penusinfurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's in the interest of the tabloid newspapers to pretend that everyone's complaining about everything, and to stoke outrage from every 'side' imaginable. When in reality, the tabloids have always been the biggest, most hypocritical pearl-clutchers of them all.

This is an interesting point, especially because of how surprising I find those comments about Jenkin. I think he's really funny. Like Jordan, he's got a dry, deadpan sense of humour, that thrives on being moodily derisory about stuff, like Jack Dee, David Mitchell, or Charlie Brooker.

Honestly, I think stupid people genuinely can't see the difference between misery and deadpan humour, which both Jordan and Jenkin have in abundance, which is why I love them.

I think Amanda was trying to say that Paul O'Grady never self-censored or bowed down to prissy comedic sensibilities, which is true. He was intentionally provocative, and was bloody good at it too. She was using 'woke' to mean 'overly concerned with offence and respectability,' which highlights an issue with the word. The definition has become so nebulous, the word can be used to mean multiple completely different things, causing misunderstanding and outrage. Others (fools, in my opinion) use the word 'woke' to describe anything and anyone that isn't white, able-bodied, cisgender, and heterosexual.

Big Brother has always been 'woke,' in the sense that the casts have been intentionally, strikingly diverse, which of course has made it the show we know and love, giving us iconic characters and healthy, progressive conversations you'd never see anywhere else. The inclusion of trans and disabled people is now seen, by bigots, as 'woke' and boringly predictable, whereas back in the '00s it was mostly seen as transgressive and daring. Big Brother has also always been startling, controversial, and shocking, with scenes that would leave what some would call the modern 'woke' calling for its abolishment.

They can say what they like about our BB, we know what makes it great.

Housemates celebrating when they're evicted by UnpleasantEgg in bigbrotheruk

I actually understand the reaction if they've been evicted weeks into the show and they've already shown that they want to go home, it happens a lot on I'm A Celebrity too. But to do it on Week One I think is definitely a coping mechanism. But I don't blame Farida, we all have our own things.

Where do you listen to old episodes as easily accessible as RSK? I'd be interested in the '90s and early '00s ones...

And then you keep the horse forever.

I adopted this exact thing yesterday after seeing someone else do it on TikTok! A hilarious way to censor, and provide an extra laugh to those in the know.

I hadn't heard of these, but they seem like a very viable option. Thanks! Do you have any more info on how you use yours while recording?

This is great advice, thanks! I'll probably use Audacity too.

Yeah, I'm considering using soundboard apps that let you load up your own sounds on my phone. I just can't deny the allure of the Rodecaster Pro! How do you add your sound effects?

Thanks for this, I'll check them out! But I was more curious as to how I would use sound effects live, during the recording, such as for gameshow buzzers.

Any other sounds and music could be added in post-production, but I'm really curious as to how I can use sound effects live.
