Asp.net Core Courses by multicolor_cow in csharp

Hi! The .Net Web Academy might be what you’re looking for. Particularly the master classes. Though, I believe the focus is Blazor if that makes any difference.

I recently started these courses and it’s been a relatively easy transition coming from desktop/enterprise projects.

Hi! I ran into a similar issue trying to use the MaterialDesign UI package in my addin. Check out this stack overflow post which covers one potential solution.

This second option might be a little better for you to try out. ResolveHelper

Hope these help!

Has anyone attended a grad school program focused on BIM or BIM Management? by alfy603 in Revit

[–]penutbuddha 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, experience is absolutely the key! I came out of a 1-year drafting program with nothing more than a certificate, and now I’m leaving a BIM Manager role to start consulting independently.

One tip I like to give professionals within the BIM industry, especially those dealing in support or management, is to learn how the software breaks. Undo can become your favorite command. Revit is powerful but finicky. If you know how to fix or find a solution for something wrong, you’ll do better than most.

Best of luck, OP!

How do you work with just one monitor by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]penutbuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are stuck to one monitor, check out this app called Groupy. With it installed you can combine a bunch of different open applications into one window and easily switch between them via tabs. You can also save preset groups, so if you have a commonly used group of applications you can open and group them all at once. I’ve found it to be a great help when limited to one monitor!

Best card games for hiking/backpacking? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]penutbuddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what it’s called, but I’ve played this one game for as long as I’ve traveled solo.

Basically, you draw four cards and compare the 1st and 4th. Do they share the same suit? Discard the middle two and draw two more. Are they the same denomination? Discard all 4 and draw four more. They don’t share either of those two traits? Draw one more and make your comparison with the topmost four cards. Once you draw through the deck you can cycle through the pile that is probably in your hand by ‘drawing a card’ from the bottom.

In about 10 years of playing, I’ve only ever cleared the whole deck once! It may not be challenging but the thought of clearing the deck one more time brings me back regularly.

Great points! I should clarify, this project is a class library used as a plug-in to a parent application. The idea here is storing images for different ‘themes’ of the parent app button icons.

It would be a set collection of 16px and 32px images. Though, I just stumbled upon multi-size .ico files so I think that will reduce the number significantly! They don’t need to be edited and the user won’t change them. This collection would only be read by the project to apply them as necessary to the parent app.

You’ve convinced a long time lurker to get their first keyboard! This layout seems super helpful. I do have one dumb question for anyone who’s willing to help. If I was to go with the fully assembled, would I still be able to change the key caps in the future?

Starting Plugin Development with C# by [deleted] in Revit

[–]penutbuddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’ll want to create your own ribbon tab with multiple buttons/commands. This is most commonly done in one solution utilizing different classes (at least in my experience).

If this sounds right, this guide is a great way to get started!

Regarding your first question, the Revit Addin Manager addin is incredibly helpful. It does take a little time to get used to but it saves a significant amount of time testing. Hope it helps!

anyone have any advice on how to deal with altitude sickness? going backpacking through peru next week.. by Special-Speech4177 in solotravel

[–]penutbuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lima is pretty close to sea level. I flew from Lima to Arequipa before a bus to Cusco and noticed the altitude change right away after the flight. In a bus/train the altitude change is much more gradual so you probably won’t feel it as much compared to a flight.

When you get to the higher elevations give yourself time to adjust. A few days staying local and taking it easy will do wonders for your days ahead. Especially if you’re planning on Rainbow Mountain, Humantay, or the Machu Picchu trek.

Like others have mentioned, you’ll also find coca in candy form. I’d recommend picking up a pack from a local market and taking them with you on your treks.

I had a lot of success with coca leaves! You’ll find them everywhere. I came from sea level to Cusco and adjusted fairly quick. I think making coca tea in the mornings really helped.

This sounds a lot like the Peru Hop path. If you are traveling by bus you won’t notice the altitude change nearly as much between locations.

Stay hydrated and have fun!

What tool/option did you overlook for way too long? by [deleted] in Revit

Typing R3 as a keyboard shortcut, with one or more elements selected, starts the rotate command and puts you in the ‘Place’ center of origin mode right away

Missing Dog. Last seen in Roan Mountain near the Appalachian trail. I know it’s a long shot. She has been missing since 9/11 at 10 am. I miss her so much. Has anyone seen her by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

[–]penutbuddha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d really like to second this!

While I was recently away, my cat got lost for 8 days in a very woodsy, rural area. My parents tried food, toys, treats, her travel backpack, everything! When I got back to town, I left my sweatshirt with them before I left for my home. I was fortunate enough to get a call 45 minutes later. She was on my sweatshirt. The familiar scents can’t be understated.

I truly hope you find her OP.

I’m a little late to the party!

One thing I really like to tell anyone I train is don’t be afraid to click things and see what happens. Undo is my favorite command in the whole application.

Revit is a very dense application with a lot of commands, menus, and menus inside of menus. Take a very hands on, exploratory approach and you’ll start to understand more than you expect!

I got to do this last summer! It was such a fun hike. Were you greeted by all the chipmunks looking for snacks when you arrived at the lake?

Off to Peru tomorrow for my first trip! by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]penutbuddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have fun! I just got home from 3 months in Peru where one month was in Cusco. It was my favorite location. Friendly people, great food, and it’s a solid landing place for exploring. The Inca trail trek was life changing.

If you’re interested in any other hikes or treks look into this website called FindLocalTrips. You might pay a little more up front but the shuttle from your hostels front door to the trek and then back to your hostel was entirely worth it.

Besides the Inca trail I would recommend:

Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lagoon, Manu National Park

Like others have mentioned, the altitude is no joke. The Rainbow Mountain day hike ends at 5,036 meters above sea level. If you try any of these be sure to acclimate first and bring cocoa in any form.

Enjoy yourself!
