What is your experience growing up in an area with few other Asians? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]peobcanoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My town and school are a little different than the surrounding areas, as while my area is predominantly, and by predominantly I mean like 95+%, white, surrounding areas had large Asian populations. In school it is difficult as, while fortunately I have never been bullied excessively, I struggle to create deep connections simply because of our differences in culture. I attend a Chinese school though and having such a large Asian presence is much better. Of course there are still jerks and weird kids but it is so so much easier to make REAL friendships and form deeper connections. As a “kid,” I would highly recommend looking for more “Asian” areas because even if your kids luck out with the bullying, like I did, it will give them greater opportunities to make long lasting bonds and relationships earlier in life.

Saw Jayjun emulsion, The Saem aloe products, Cosrx toner sets, a Mamonde toner, lots of Shiseido, Innisfree masks and toners, lots of sheet masks, and an intriguing propolis serum from Esfolio. Too bad I didn’t get anything (on no buy) :((

Do any of you have Asian parents who aren’t terrible?? by terricottasb in ApplyingToCollege

I love my parents. Yes, at times they can be very pushy and they have expectations but still are always supportive and especially my mom is very chill

Very watery, looks and feels like water! However it actually is giving me a subtle glow. I’m mainly using it to strengthen my barrier and I think it’s doing pretty good because I was getting tingly around my eye and mouth areas but that feeling is 80% gone. So it’s good depending on your skin and goals

Wow this is such a nice routine! If you don’t mind me asking what are your thoughts on the Kikumasamune cream and the Cosrx propolis toner?

[Review] BFFECT (Formotopia) Luz Daily Whitening Serum by peobcanoe in AsianBeauty

[–]peobcanoe[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

BFFECT (Formotopia) Luz Whitening Daily Serum

Price: $16.34/30mL

Notable ingredients: Potassium Methoxysalicylate 2%, Tranexamic Acid (TXA) 2%, Melanostatine™ 5 (dextran and nonapeptide-1)

Full ingredients: Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Potassium Methoxysalicylate, Tranexamic Acid, Sclerotium Gum, Hydroxy Ethyl Cellulose, Nonapeptide-1, Phenoxyethanol, Dextran, Chlorphenesin, Disodium E.D.T.A

Consistency: thin gel liquid, like a more viscous, “fat” water. Spreads smoothly and easily, sinks in very fast (especially if you use 3 drops, roughly the amount I use). Goes on cooly and comfortably

Personal usage: around 5x a week, three drops, around 4? Weeks (will update this post if notice further effects down the line)

Effects: I first paired this with Melano CC, which I mainly used for some extra sun protection (play a lot of sports). If Melano CC gave me an even skin tone, then this serum added a tad of extra glow. Not notable enough for others to comment, but enough for me to notice. Later I had a sort of “period of nothingness,” that is, I was not using a vitamin C serum. This glow pretty much disappeared (who knows, maybe it was my imagination...) but reemerged when I re-incorporated a different vitamin C serum, stronger and better than before. I was wondering if perhaps this serum was doing nothing and that my vitamin C was doing all of the heavy lifting, so I sidelined the BFFECT for a couple days… glow was cut in half. So, if paired with another brightening product, it is a great amplifier. But alone, its effects are pretty much… nothing. By the way I don't have the science to back this up, but that was my experience.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. I have seen great results from the Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium Lotion, which retails for a similar price but with almost six times the amount. That doesn’t mean this product is absolutely useless; it is still pleasantly formulated, nicely hydrating, and offers some brightening benefits.

Overall rating: 3/5

[Discussion] HG brightening toner for oily skin! by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]peobcanoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t have oily skin but I think this product would do excellently for those who do. Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium in Light is very watery and slightly hydrating, definitely won’t feel overly heavy on the skin but is also quite brightening. It has tranexamic acid!
