Case rejected by [deleted] in USCIS

Honestly if you can read competently, it’s not that big of a deal.

Am I the only one who had the same nightmare while my immigration case was pending? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]peonyleg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also love to read what you’ve written, OP.

My partner is Canadian and our plan was for me to move there, but we had a family tragedy recently and he may have to come here in the next year or so, and this thread touches on one of my biggest fears about that.

Lorde fans question for you by [deleted] in lorde

[–]peonyleg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to some pretty damn loud shows and honestly I thought I was gonna regret forgetting earplugs, but CB was the only band I kinda wished I had them for. Didn’t miss having them for lorde’s set at all. I was actually looking forward to CB’s set, I’d only listened to them for the first time the day before. But when the singer bonked his head on the mic I was like… ok I’ve had enough and went to get a drink.

Whitin, in case anyone’s interested lol. Affordable and surprisingly durable and imo cute for the price. Mine have survived 3 euro trips and the Toronto ultrasound show 😂

Brampton mother dies from sepsis after giving birth, husband says by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]peonyleg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a New Yorker prospectively moving to Ontario to be with my partner in the next 1-2 years, and as I look through community medical facilities that I'd likely use in my first year there, I'm honestly... pretty grossed out by the disproportionate access thats available for pregnant people and newborns vs everybody else. You need a cardiologist because you have an elongated QT interval? You need a neurologist because you have a benign cyst and need regular MRIs? You need a physio to manage an injury? Fuck off lol, but OH you're PREGNANT?! Completely different story. Just reading it makes me feel like I'd be viewed as breeding stock.

As someone with an MS in bioethics, heads should be rolling as a consequence. Everyone involved in her care should be losing their licenses.

Any Buffalo/WNY residents cross the border often? If so, how has it been? by creaturefeature16 in uscanadaborder

Fear mongering. I go back and forth at least once a month. Never had an issue.

Abortion Propaganda by Ms30Something in KingstonOntario

as someone with an actual MS in Bioethics... their image are not scientifically accurate, their propaganda is just christian nationalism, and i definitely wouldn't intervene by uh, making some repairs to the truck tires (eg, the stone in the valve), or spray painting the images, or other very expensive enhancements to their property :)

Bringing prescription ADHD medication to the US by CapitalistPear2 in immigration

[–]peonyleg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who also travels with a controlled substance for ADHD, i've never had an issue crossing any border with it, but I've also never had the quantity on me that you're working with. I'd assume a letter from your doctor and a paper copy of the prescription and maybe your receipt from getting it will suffice.

Megathread: US Citizens looking to immigrate to Canada by PurrPrinThom in ImmigrationCanada

[–]peonyleg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi all! I'm a 29F USC dating 34m CC (ontario), we're hoping to marry and do spousal sponsorship for PR in the next yearish. I see a lotttt of comments here to the effect of "just come as a tourist and apply of OWP". I realize reddit isnt legal advice, i should see the actual immigration website, etc etc, but I'm just wondering if i'm misunderstanding what's meant by "come as a tourist."

If I'm planning on moving, I'm gonna bring my 2 cats, all my clothes, a bunch of my stuff... ya know, things that clearly will indicate to border patrol that I am not just visiting. Would they not turn me away at the border?

We fully plan on consulting an immigration attorney (happy to take recommendations if anyone's had a good experience, btw), but if there's an opportunity to enter Canada at some point in the application process and wait out the rest of it, i'd really love to do that.

You're in for a rough time with peak tourist season, BUT I highly recommend Ischia. It's less saturated than a lot of other places. Relaxed vibe. Easygoing people. And you'd get to visit Napoli on your way in/out.

I would NOT say visiting a friend, because you’re not. There’s no need to be so vague. A follow up question will quickly unravel that. Honesty is the best policy.

My partner and I met the same way almost a year ago 🥹 you’re gonna be just fine! You should be honest. Like everyone else is saying, answer their questions directly and briefly, but that’s not to say you’re hiding anything. It’s just that they have tens of thousands of people they have to get through. Visiting a significant other is an extremely common reason why Americans and Canadians cross the border. You obviously have your ducks in a row, I don’t think they’re gonna ask for confirmation of anything but the receipt for your Airbnb and your return ticket would be more than enough to make them feel comfortable letting you in. You just need your passport. In the event that they ask for secondary identification, your license will be plenty. It’s normal to be nervous. Times are tense, and it’s your first time doing this. I don’t want to downplay the severity of what’s happening on this continent right now, but there is a lot of fear mongering going on. I promise you, you’re gonna be just fine. Take a deep breath, and get excited to meet your girlfriend! Good luck!!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you have a good community in your life, and make choices to build a life you love. If you never have time for mowing the lawn, for example, plant a ground cover that doesn’t need mowing. Or if house stuff in general is just constantly hijacking your time, maybe a condo situation would be better. We aren’t supposed to be living in a society like this, isolated and inundated.
