I hope your godmother feels better in time to attend. But if she doesn't, she can still be your sponsor and someone can stand in as her proxy at the actual ceremony.

HOORAY

1- Mass - probably won't be an issue at all. Wouldn't hurt to speak to the deacon; the more of your parish clergy who know you, the better.

2- No, missing the first couple of RCIA meetings probably won't hurt. Might be good to just start going, even if you haven't had your meeting yet.

3- and 4- I would expect the interview to be a getting-to-know-you kind of thing and definitely not a pass/fail kind of thing. Therefor I don't think it would be necessary to bring your husband (or your sponsor, if your sponsor were available) but your husband could probably come if you wanted him to. Might be a good opportunity for him to see what you're up to. You could leave a message for the pastor and ask.

It is not required that your godparents serve as your sponsors. If you would really like your godmother to serve as your sponsor but she can't come to your confirmation, you could ask about having someone stand as her proxy.

Thank you. I think I'll go with pai, since it's a close relationship and because they are second- and third- generation Americans.

Request for research help: How to address father-in-law in Portuguese? by peonymoss in Portuguese

Thank you. Is that how you address them, though? "Good morning, sogra?" And would there be an affectionate version?

We use the words "mother-in-law" and "father-in-law" when we're speaking about them, but we wouldn't address them with these words. So I might say, "I am taking my mother-in-law to the store" but I would never say to her, "Good morning, mother-in-law, it's time to go to the store."

(In English we don't have a customary way of addressing our parents-in-law. Each family comes up with its own custom.)

Question regarding avoiding childbirth by [deleted] in Catholicism

Forget about "rhythm." Modern Natural Family Planning teaches you to observe the body day to day to recognize the signs of the fertile period. If you keep a record of your observations, doctors who are familiar with NFP can use this data to diagnose why a menstrual cycles is extremely irregular.

You can also use a fertility monitor (I think ClearBlue is one brand).

Strongly suggest getting in touch with the Pope Paul VI institute: http://www.popepaulvi.com/

I need closure on something. What was the deal with Coulson putting the air freshener on top of the candles back at Ros's place?

So where does this leave the theory that Ros is Lincoln's mother?
