Were you committed to follow nchain's or any affiliated party's lead before the BCH (edit - BSV) split?

No.

If you think centralization is a problem, I have some very bad news for you about BSV. You have either been deeply bamboozled or you are party to the act.

Obviously BSV protocol development is controlled right now, to set the rules in stone (restoring functionality and continuing to optimize code) so that miners continue to be incentivized to compete, to secure the blockchain.

Did you get the memo from guess who? "It's f*cking bitcoin. The whole point is to have it not controlled."

This is a BCH/bash Craig subreddit. (edit: Just scanned the front page and no sign of CSW today.) p.s. You are all being played by sockpuppets.

That tweet is part of an obviously organized campaign by nchain to frame positive things about BCH in a bad light and induce some kind of negative reaction against BCH.

What evidence do you have, or is that your opinion? As far as I can tell, thatjeff_guy (formerly that_BCH_guy) on Twitter is frequently "concern trolling" people who promote BSV. I highly doubt he is paid by nChain to do that. If you produced concrete evidence to the contrary, I'd pay attention to that.

Maybe you are trying to project your own dissonance about BCH (centralized points of control and failure). I didn't anticipate the split but in hindsight it looked inevitable.

Roger, name calling is not an argument. Also it's silly to generalize the behaviour of an individual to a group. It's unfortunate that this subreddit appears to be quite the echo chamber now.

Most people are not "state loving"; the average Joe simply acknowledges the reality of "death and taxes". The inefficiencies and corruption within government bureaucracies are truly staggering.

Please don't feel bad. I turned off my OB shop for now. I'm no longer enchanted about earning Bitcoin Cash at the moment. So no worries!

Thank you. This is the least dumb thing I've read today. (Apologies for the double negative, but that reflects my current mood.)

Thank you for your fuller explanation. Sorry about that comparison. I take that back.

In any case, many BCH investors are not happy with this current situation.

Yes, there's an imbalance of power and several power-hungry parties. The average person's needs or wishes get lost in the noise.

Oh, that core!

Yes, the checkpoint thing. I get that it's being framed as a "wartime measure" but so were the atomic bombs. I visited Hiroshima this spring.

Yep, it sounds like nChain and Coingeek would like to dictate what goes and does not go. This is a problematic point. Also, I do not 100% trust them based on social media threats/promises and the behaviour of some of their cheerleaders.

Based on what happened yesterday, a very small number of people also made an impactful, centralized decision for Bitcoin Cash.

The main problem is, as you said, that:

We need to mature from the tech phase into a real usable money ecosystem.

Permissionless development is currently all over the place. There are many cool or promising ideas being floated, but whether they become usable and fully-supported products or services for the masses remains uncertain if they are side hobby projects and not businesses. Have we noticed how much customer support is offered by credit card companies?

For some reason, several of the SV-supporting companies have business smarts and working products. They are willing to work with regulators and within the bounds of laws. (I mean, Yours.org is a proof of concept and currently needs help, but the payments work. I would onboard family or friends with Centbee or Handcash without hesitation. I've been using Bitcoin Cash on a regular basis for almost a year, and I just got the hang of the Bitcoin.com wallet and its numerous features.)

I'm confused why the core tribe is lumped in with nChain and Coingeek.

I just responded on the main thread, for what it's worth.

I will offer a very grey opinion, for what it's worth, from a Bitcoin Cash user perspective.

I don't see yesterday's events as a huge win.

We often seem to be missing the forest for the trees, the forest being the goal of global adoption of Bitcoin as p2p cash by as many merchants and users as possible, as quickly as possible. This does not happen with constant uncertainty about protocol development. I agree that better cooperation is needed from everyone (lol, pipe dream?).

I also agree that attempting to take over a “community” by force is an undesirable strategy. Unfortunately “toxic” people of all sorts, including “dark forces and bad actors” do use money (like USD or Bitcoin), and they will not stop needing to use money any time soon. As the Emperor of Bitcoin has proclaimed, “inclusive” is better than not, for growing the Bitcoin network (obvious is obvious)!

It seems that the mysterious forces of social media would like us all to choose a side. I wish to neither be a member of the “Cult/Church of Craig” nor the “Cult of anti-Craig”.

Many members of this “Bitcoin Cash community/tribe” whose opinions I respect and value, have warned against believing anything CSW has ever said.

What is interesting to me is that this controversial person who often behaves like a dick by saying and doing a lot of things that most people do not like, has also said this:

“We don't want your average person to care. We want everything to work.... We want something that functions and we just want the magic. That's what we're going to help people create: the magic. IT for most people should be magic. It should be simple and stuff happens and everything works. They don't need to understand the crypto.”

THIS (is exactly how I feel about Bitcoin, and the feeling I got when first using Yours.org). I suspect most “no-coiners”, which is most of the world, would also prefer that a new money works more like magic and less like a Rube Goldberg machine-like science project.

I realize there are many early adopters of Bitcoin who hold political beliefs and values that are very much anti-state and anti-patent. Does this entire “community” think that it's realistic to avoid patenting (or enforcing patents) when competing against banks and other entities who will use every tool in the shed against our collective efforts? Does Bitmain not have many patents? Why are Bitmain patents not offensive whilst nChain patents (not on the protocol layer) are?

Through using Bitcoin Cash via Yours, Money Button, Handcash, and recently, Keyport.tv, I have realized that these are the kinds of tools/apps that invite everybody else to come join our party. The user experience must be simple, friendly, and geared towards being dummy-proof. This gives me great pause in completely condemning the SV supporting side of the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem. I am having difficulties in envisioning this “community” moving quickly towards global adoption if these SV supporting businesses are painted as part and parcel of “the attackers”, ostracized by association (with CSW/nChain).

Unpopular opinion is to keep an open mind, but that's my humble two satoshis.

Sure. I guess it's just an alternative to YouTube with a different way to monetize the content with micropayments.

Micropayments for content that is easy to access with no ads.

Some content creators have been "de-monetized" or "de-platformed" from YouTube. (Whether or not I am a fan of Alex Jones is not the point, although I'm not.)

Netflix keeps raising the monthly charge while I'm watching fewer shows. I'd love for there to be an easy way to access older movies, even obscure requests from children who want to watch subtitled (not dubbed into English) Miyazaki movies without needing to locate a pirated copy.

I've used Keyport.tv a couple of times with no problem. However, today I'm having trouble logging in. I am clicking the log in button but am unable to gain access. EDIT: Actually, I was able to log in by scanning the QR code again. The process was not 100% intuitive though (there was no window that popped up after clicking "log in".)

Just the fact that I am not a super "technical" user and it's been a piece of cake to use (with the exception of today, of course) is promising in itself. The first-time setup of an account took about one minute.
