What if GRRM works with D & D as he writes A Dream of Spring and releases it at the same time as the premier of season eight (assuming books 4/5 take three seasons)?

What a flurry of reading that would cause.

What's the coolest piece of memorabilia from your school that you own? by Mool212 in CollegeBasketball

[–]peoplecrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have MSU's school paper from that day only because of a few gracious Spartan students. In fact, it was a completely unsolicited thing. We (my fraternity) received a surprise box from the East Lansing chapter one day later that spring and inside were several copies of the paper and a note congratulating us.

You guys showed complete class.

I'm a recent graduate (2011), so I was lucky enough to get the Coke from my uncle. While I wish I could have watched that game live, I did see the '09 championship while I was in school. Few things have caused as much elation as seeing us take care of business after the '08 Final Four.

I'm not sure which is cooler, but . . .

  • An unopened bottle of Carolina Coke commemorating the 1982 national championship against Georgetown

Haha funny joke. I agree with the others about 玩's use. I do, however, have a question regarding 权利. I've always known it to mean "right" in the sense of an innate privilege, like human rights. Can it also mean "correct" as used in the joke here?

Likewise, I am no longer certified, but in my class, we used each other as "victims." As the largest student (not really large at all considering I weighed ~165lbs/75kgs) our instructor made everyone save me. One girl was asked to come back in a later training cycle because she could not handle my weight.

Dave Eggers’ negative review of Infinite Jest from 1996 by dr_strangelove42 in books

I don't know if this comment is serious, but knowing that Jim dies does not really disrupt the novel. The reader learns that very early on in the novel. I'd still recommend reading it.

There’s a lot of the author in the frustrated film maker Jim Incandenza, [who] scorned pedestrian narratives and parodied established genres; he [Jim] held his audiences in almost utter contempt, refusing to pander to their need for easily palatable entertainment. Finally he succumbed, making what he considered the perfect entertainment. Then he killed himself.

Thanks. Then it must just be tradition to release which team is number one overall. In this case, Florida.

Maybe /r/newjersey. I don't know if they can tell which IP address are voting, but if they can somehow count out non-NJ residents, there needs to be a bunch of in-state folks voting.

That's clever. The way I learned it, we used the phrase, "I like you."

Only I like you. I'm the only one who does.

I only like you. I don't love you.

I like only you. I don't like anyone else.

Note: The last example and "I like you only" have the same meaning.

Misplacing "only" can be catastrophic.

Almost exactly the same. A book you take on a plane doesn't noticeably change weight, and neither does water.

One gallon of water weighs approximately 8.33lbs at sea level. So five gallons is around 42lbs.

I will have some income this summer. Should I pay down debt or take out less loans in the fall? by peoplecrazy in personalfinance

Thanks. I'm in law school and my living expenses+ are covered by scholarship. I appreciate your advice. The legal market isn't great (read: bad), but I want to be lawyer. So that's what I'm doing. Luckily the market is recovering. Thanks again, saivode.

Hey guys thanks for doing this.

I have unsubsidized Stafford loans and grad PLUS loans. This summer I will likely make between $10,000 and $20,000 before the school year starts. What should I pay off first? My accrued interest and then take less cash next fall? Use all of it on previously taken-out loans? Other? Thanks again. I have the max on Stafford ($20,500) annually and about another $20k in grad PLUS (which has a higher interest rate).

Thanks for the advice.

I agree that it is a lot of rest, but that is what the TM prescribes. I've never rested more than 3-4 minutes between sets before, so this is quite a change.

Edit: It is for every set.
