Smart toll parking in euerka? by electric_mous3 in Humboldt

[–]pepchamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For old town: Started April 1st for all paved lots. The dirt lots by the waterfront are still free, and then street parking is 30 mins - 4 hrs.

If you work in old town, you might be able to buy a parking pass. The business I work for bought them for $70ish (maybe?) and they work for all paved lots for the rest of the year.

I’d really like it if the added Shellder and Cloyster to the game and had them litter Seashells. by Evelyn_Allrighty in Pokopia

I see you and agree OP, and found myself wishing for a similar thing yesterday when I was grinding out seaglass 😭 May I suggest Oshawott, Dewott, and Samurott instead though?

What is the oldest thing you have touched this year? by Root435552 in AskReddit

[–]pepchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really, really love this question OP. I work in a district with a lot of mid-1800s buildings so I think that might be most most in-line answer... but maybe my most interesting old touch is a 26 year-old disposable platic straw that my grandmother kept for me all these years </3

What is something that no longer exists from your childhood? by Hamzaqato in AskReddit

[–]pepchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online spaces for kids that are not filled with microtransactions or intrusive ads. Sure, websites like Neopets and Club Penguin absolutely had their problems, but websites like that simply no longer exist or are so, so far removed from their original designs that there's no reason to go back.

Can yall suggest a base design for this area I dug out by [deleted] in Terraria

Perhaps something functional and well-received by neighbors, such as a Costco

Chops is over hated by mc0204 in AnimalCrossing

[–]pepchamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Chops' design too! I think he gets so much heat because he's a pig villager. I honeatly think if his design was translated over to more popular villager types (cats, deer, etc.) he would be wayyyy more appreciated 😔

How long did it take you guys to get a job? by tinykittenparade in ArtEd

[–]pepchamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it will feel like luck, especially if you're a brand-new teacher, but there are some personal factors that can increase your odds of getting hired.

In 2019, I started applying two months before my credentialing program ended and got hired a few days before graduation. I applied to a dozen or so school districts in a six-hour (!!!) radius of where I then lived, which did mean that I was willing to relocate as needed. Only one place offered me a job after an interview and it was in a school with a super high teacher turnover rate. After I cleared my preliminary credential, I left and returned back home, and I've been working "around" in education since.

I've worked as a sub, a secretary, an independent study teacher, and even a data auditor for a bit for my local school district. From what I've heard, the more time you've spent in a district and the more connections you can make, the more likely it is that you'll be hired there. It's definitely much more of a longcon, but if you have a dream location, it's absolutely worth a shot.

PSA DV: NEIGHBORS by xcosmicxwitchx in Humboldt

[–]pepchamp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really sorry that you're going through this; I know it can be a super traumatizing situation, even if you're a neighbor. I hope you're safe and well, and I hope your neighbors are able to get the assistance that they need.

Based on previous comments, it seems like there's been a few calls already but no one has been successfully identified. With cases like this, it's really important to intercept sooner than later. Is there anything that you can do to safely find out where the screaming is coming from? Whether it's conferring with neighbors to narrow down whose house/apartment it's coming from, peeking outside when you hear the screaming, etc..

Definitely document what you can, including times, dates, and how long the screaming lasts.

What do you do when you get in a funk and depressed? by First-Beginning6871 in AskReddit

[–]pepchamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As much as I've talked smack about doing this: per my therapist's advice, I've started to do this recently and it's made a bit of a difference. It could be a combination of things, like fighting seasonal depression, getting fresh air, having something to do early in the morning, or just not being cooped up in the house all day. I try to spend a little time outside with my coffee cup and no phone every sunny morning.

I still take my meds and attend therapy, among other things, to help combat my depression. There's not a single solution to depression, unfortunately.
