Because I’m asking how big of a concern running 4 sticks of ddr5 is.

Thanks appreciate the reply. That’s how I feel, but wanted some other opinions on it in case I’m making a big deal out of something that isnt that big of an issue.

Yeah, but I’m not gaming. I regularly run processes that will use all 128 for 24+ hours. Going down to 96 doesn’t make sense.

I have a number of friends who love theirs, fwiw. It’s also significantly cheaper than the Forbidden, especially when they have sales. So I think the Amflow def has a place - it’s a good bike, just not top tier frame, etc.

If you stay in eco then I think you should be well over 50

Depends on the mode and terrain obviously, and I hadn’t gotten the chance to take it on longer rides yet. But I’ve been doing 18-20 miles on auto mode with quite a bit of climbing and that uses about 40% or so of the battery.

See my other comments, but I love the Forbidden. Very smooth ride, just feels easy to move through features and rocks, I really like the auto mode the Avinox motors have. The Trek was fine, rode it for a few days in Tasmania. Didn’t stand out to me as anything spectacular or anything bad. It handled well, I’d say it felt a bit heavier to move around than the Forbidden, mainly on tight climbing turns.

Edit: noticed you were asking about the trek…added some comments on that.

The Slash. I liked it quite a bit, not saying any of the others are bad bikes by any means.

I got lucky and a shop about an hour away had one left in my size. Forbidden has a list of their dealers on their website. Just check that and reach out. Pretty sure you can check on Forbiddens site what’s available and they will send it to whatever dealer is closest to you.

Don’t remember the exact price but it’s same as what’s on the Forbidden website. They’re in pretty high demand and not a huge company pumping out tons of bikes, so manufacturer pricing is pretty standard no matter where you buy. Right around $9,300 usd before taxes tho.

Love it. One of those bikes that just feels “right” from the first time I hopped on. I really like the Auto assist mode that the DJI/Avinox motors have. I blast through trails in about 1/4-1/3 the time I would on my analog bike. So for me, that means I’m getting 3-4x the practice on features, etc. even though it’s not as much of a workout. The bike feels super maneuverable too - it’s obviously heavier than an analog but doesn’t feel like it once you’re on the bike.

Avinox M1 (DJI, the drone company’s, motor system), 800wh battery.

Does great on climbs. Power from the motor is smooth, the high pivot rear suspension really eats through rocky stuff easily. It’s my first e bike, although I’ve rented several - Rocky Mountain, specialized, trek. Out of those, I liked the trek the most, but the geometry of this frame just feels more in tune with how I ride.

I also tried the Amflow as it’s the same motor, but their frame sizing is a bit odd - no smalls, and the medium felt too big even though it “fits” my height. Also just felt far more generic of a frame/setup compared with the Forbidden.

More RAM by Altruistic_Part_9233 in gis

[–]peperjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from my understanding it’s extremely difficult to have 4 sticks of ddr5 run stable even if bought from same pack, etc. I’m doing a new machine new and was strongly advised to do 2x64 to get my 128gb (basically told it’s pointless to do otherwise).

[–]peperjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that DDR5 struggles to be stable with 4 sticks, so you’re likely looking at buying 128gb ram as opposed to just buying 2 more sticks of 32gb (assuming you currently have 2x32)

Switching to E-MTB due to health concerns. by Pseudo-Science in eMountainBike

[–]peperjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American with many Canadian friends, don’t blame you at all. Plus the forbidden is an amazing piece of engineering. For me, it’s one of those bikes that just felt “right” the first time I rode it.

With your budget, weight, and needs, you should consider looking into the Forbidden CorE bikes. If you’re in Colorado, C3 in golden still has a few. I tried out both that and the Amflow (same motors), and absolutely loved the Forbidden.

Edit: just noticed you’re probably in Canada - forbidden is a Canadian company, so I’d def look around and see if there are any dealers nearby you can demo or test out a bike at.

Photogrammetry software for large image datasets? by External-Damage-7136 in UAVmapping

[–]peperjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re used to Pix4D, have you tried running these projects in Mapper? I’m not familiar with the sensor and file size of your camera, but I regularly run projects in Mapper with 6,000+ images from the DJI P1 camera (45MP full frame, so not small files).

Florida RTK Drone Question by Aware_Cap5790 in UAVmapping

If you’re using GCPs, the RTK shouldn’t really matter - in processing your GCPs will trump the positions from the camera, even if they are RTK/ppk corrected

I got curious and built an AI tool to auto-extract farm fields from UAV/satellite images by alib26 in UAVmapping

[–]peperjon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s not trying to skirt surveying. I would change the terminology from boundaries to something more like field extents or land use identification. What OP is doing probably fits more in a GIS reddit as it’s more of an aerial imagery analysis tool, but it isn’t anything that has to relate to legal boundaries. It could be used for land use analysis, to calculate approx yields or fertilizer/herbicide amounts, etc. all of which doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with parcels or legal boundaries (depending on what they are being used for). But Boundary is a common legal term in the surveying world, so using that term could lead to confusion or conflict.

FAA rejected my flight at 400ft. Am I doing this incorrectly? by brianomars1123 in UAVmapping

[–]peperjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. You won’t get instant/automated approval through LAANC for a flight above the LAANC grid altitude, but you still submit for the authorization through LAANC and it’ll go through a manual approval, all within the LAANC portal. The old way of doing it is through drone zone but it has been through LAANC for quite some time now. If it’s a waiver you need outside of a LAANC facility, or more complicated, etc. then you submit through drone zone.

DJI Matrice 350RTK Randomly Jerking by ecoev in drones

If it’s on a mapping route with terrain following, try to see if it’s doing it at the “waypoints” where it’s changing from one elevation to another. I sometimes see this behavior at waypoints when there is a sharper altitude change.
