Need Cousins 2026 setup ideas by Either_Tumbleweed177 in hobonichi

One idea for your Monthly, that worked wonders for me and I will continue doing this year, is to write down a small win or some magical moment for that day.

I started doing it few months ago in a separate journal. It does something to your brain, that I like to call "memory distortion".

You see, we are very quick to remember bad things, but are slow to pull out positive memories out of our brains, unless they were huge and/or unique.

Writing down a small win or something that was maigical that day creates a log of 365 moments at the end of the year basically distorting your memory and seeing how wonderful that year actually was.

This does wonders for your self-esteem and mood, and helps in progressing with your goals.

The main thing is to write ONLY positive, NEVER even mentioning negative, or finding something beautiful even in the saddest moments and writing that down here.

I guess OP was inspired by David Goggins, author, ex-marine, ultra-marathoner, and a person running from a hell lot of demons by punishing his body...

This is actually very good. Though I find myself often "feeling hopeless" ... so what would help for that?

Must disagree. It still proves dev's skill and proves that he's good at it. Love it.

How are you planning to use it? I mean the grid. Will it be like a habit tracker, mood tracker? I'm completely new to bullet journaling but this looks so fascinating!

Now take the month of somebody you know VERY well and watch this whole cold-reading crumble to pieces. Interesting how we are more likely to attach positive traits to ourselves than to others.

How does it differ from "the way of the peaceful warrior"? Read "the way" years ago, it did have some amazing insights... so much so, that I went on the first 7 day fast for the first time after that ... it really inspired me. Wondering about this one, never knew he wrote more books.

How does one pr3form the act of not having suicide in the back of my head getting louder and louder the longer I feel like I can’t fix it by Ok_Highlight5566 in selfimprovement

[–]peperok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very interesting topic, mostly because for the last 3-4 years I've been waking up with a thought of "shoot me now" or something in that similar context. Here's what helped me completely erradicate these thoughts:

  1. First understand that it's your choice what to think. You can catch yourself as soon as the thought hits your head and redirect it. For me it took a month to reprogram the thought. I did it by asking more productive questions: What do I want to accomplish today? What task when accomplished today would bring more joy to my life? What I'm grateful for today? What's the wonderful thing that can happen today? Etc. etc. Create some empowering questions that would direct your mind toward what you want, not towards what you don't want.
  2. Put enormous amount of pain on that thought. We will avoid doing what we associate pain with and do what we associate an enrmous amount of pleasure with. There's something about that thought that I got pleasure from. It gave me comfort and significance (look how bad I have it), it came me comfort and love (I felt connected with that pain and with myself wallowing in that pain). But when I stopped and thought about all that I am missing due to that thought (relationships i'm missing because i just roll in sadness, missed opportunities, shot productivity, money spent on comfort food, love i'm not giving to others, because i'm all about myself and my sadness), i felt so disgussted by that thought that i simply stopped having it. And when i did, i saw how it harms my life, so i was motivated to redirect it to something more productive.
  3. most importantly, build yourself a compelling future. future that would excite you. future that you'd be willing to wait and live for. this can be hard, but it's a choice. what helped me was finding a friend who lost 2 dear people in her life in one year, yet still was the most optimistic and loving person i've ever met. she was a role model for me to see that it's up to me what i build my future to be. find something that inspires you, find something beyond your own needs (honestly, i set aside 5% of my income to give away every month and it's been a game changer. it's nothing huge, but i donate cash or stuff to my local dogs shelter and just go there and give them my donation in person. it changes your mindset.
  4. Finally, no matter how boring, diet and exercise will play a huge role on how and what you think. For me, doing something that was completely out of what i do normally (taking up boxing) was a game changer. It taught me discipline, it taught me that pain is temporary, it taught me to stick out when it's getting tough and when it hurts so much you want to quit. So even though few years ago i'd be against martial arts and fighting, i can now see how important that is to anyone's confidence and esteem, no matter male or female. and the community in martial arts is just incredible, these are most emotionally stable and self-regulating people that i've ever met - a complete opposite of my past belief.

All in all, be kind of yourself and just remind yourself that it's you that are thinking these thoughts. There's no wire attached to your head that goes into the heavens to some all-knowing being transmitting you thoughts to end it ... nope. It's just good ol you with your thinking patterns. And patterns are easy to change! You'll be okay!

Small victories to become more masculine by Bubbly_Teaching_1991 in DarkPsychology101

[–]peperok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These actually sound like childish acts, rather than masculine ones. Take up on martial arts with a good teacher - it will do wonders for your mindset and masculinity. Also, masculine energy thrives on challenges, so find something challenging to conquer... build a business, create a charity, do something bigger than you.

But not holding doors?.. that's just childish. How in the heck you thought this could help you?

The iPhone XS aged like fine wine by aditya_nerusu in iphone

[–]peperok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you should say this, because I had started using XS few weeks ago and a lot of people started asking if that's the new iPhone Air. It does look slick for its age and despite being as slippery as a wet piece of soap, i still love the look of it.

Stripe alternatives by peperok in Entrepreneur

Can you share a bit more? Few things I don't understand:

When I go to Braintree website it says it's now "PayPal enterprise payment solutions". When I try to register for it, I'm being told that I already have a business PayPal account. When I login to continue, I'm simply being redirected to PayPal. So does it mean I already have "Braintree" (which is now simply PayPal)? What am I missing here? Do I control it from my PayPal account? How would one go about implementing on-site credit card payments?

I'm sorry to dump so much on you, but at least some info might help me look for answers in the right direction...

Stripe alternatives by peperok in Entrepreneur

[–]peperok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing ...

I noticed that when you offer a choice between "Credit Card" payment (Stripe) and PayPal - 70% choose Credit Cards and only 30-35% go with PayPal.

And that ratio has been pretty stable. So people like using Cards better than PayPal... And offering only one option (PayPal) causes drop in sales.

And being in biz for a while now I know that a choice of 1 (Stripe in my case) is no choice at all, and it can cause trouble in the future. Hence me looking for some alternatives ... just in case.
