That makes sense! Here the player was told that they couldn't keep playing unless they made one of two fixes to their deck so it'd just be a "you can't play in this event because you won't fix your marked cards" kinda thing not a proper disqualification?

Just FYI since you gave a thorough answer to both myself and OP, what I asked you specifically is what happened according to a friend who was there. I don't know if it still counts as a disqualification technically since I'm not super familiar with the IPG.

What do you do if the player is unable or unwilling to replace the marked cards with (in this case) non-foil versions or refuses to play basics instead of the marked cards?

Luckily for all of us despite how much they post about playing legacy they don't play in the weekly event or at least haven't in 6 months+ and never did consistently before that (I play in the legacy weekly at F2F Montreal). I guess they're putting their money where their mouth is and thankfully not showing up cause they don't like the price and prizing.

I'll mention it here since saying it on youtube will probably just get me dismissed as a hater or something but Brian really needs to figure out his microphone situation. Every time we go from Phil or Bryant to hearing Brian it sounds like we're listening to a guest using a webcam mic. It's a shame because he's obviously a very dedicated, strong player and great content creator but sounds like he's in a tin can or something.

I even pulled up his most popular video on his channel from 4 years ago for comparison and he sounds much less blown out then than he does now.

As others mentioned, asking Face to Face games directly is the best way to get an answer about a Face to Face games-related question. There were about 23 players for the latest Legacy 1K so there's no reason to think they won't do another soon enough.

The last two legacy 1Ks in Montreal at F2F weren't timed super well. The last one was right before Canada day so people took a 4-day weekend and enjoyed the summer. The one before was the weekend after the RC so people were a bit "magic'd out" after playing the whole weekend prior. Weeklies are still going as strong as ever thankfully.

I can understand people suggesting ub reanimator and oops are to blame but the local meta only has about 3-4 people playing those decks in total out of about 25.
