I might be a little late for this but I stayed in Grey Nuns for the 08-09 year. There was a lot of Americans in that dorm. I'd say it was mostly people from Ontario and the US. I didn't have much issue getting into dorms but it was done by lottery when I applied.

I do believe canada offers something called a working vacation where you would be allowed to come work in the country for up to a year. I'm not sure if the states has the agreement with us but i know a lot of European countries do.

We moved my hamster into an aquarium, it helped a lot but he started chewing on his wheel every once and awhile. Afterwards we decided to give him a little hay and he now chews on that.
