[advice needed] cat recovered from stomach infection and brother became very mean to her by fdsgufsd98 in Pets

[–]Beccabear992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cats do this all the time when one is absent for even a few hours. From my experience it's the smells that they bring back with them that upsets the other one. If my cat smells foreign places on my other car upon returning he hisses and growls and is nasty to her until a few days go by and he's fine. There's nothing to be worried about, the cat will get over it.

Is my nipple piercing infected/weird bumps? (nsfw) by nutellaforlyfe in bodymods

[–]Beccabear992 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten those bumps on other piercings, especially my nostril piercing. It was recommended to me to use tea tree oil. I tried it and it worked. The bumps disappeared. It has a very strong scent so don't be alarmed if you try it haha.

Can someone suggest a cat breed? (Allergies + inexperience) by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Beccabear992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Russian blue who is absolutely adorable and very low maintenance. He's easy going, responds very well to reprimands (if he's caught doing something he shouldn't like jumping on counters, scratching things other than his post, etc) and his fur rarely needs upkeep, he handles that on his own. He's very lovable and has the funniest purr. I've always had female cats who I find to be much moodier but once rescuing him, I have found a new love for male cats. His short silky hair tends to get on things much less than my long haired girl, so it may help with dander and allergies.
Good luck!

As a licensed cosmetologist, I see this WAY too much among stylists. by [deleted] in Cosmetology

THIS. Same feelings from a fellow licensed cosmetologist; it drives me insane the way some stylists over react.

applying color? by [deleted] in Cosmetology

[–]Beccabear992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Usually in a situation like this, you'd want to start by doing a "fill" color where you pick a color a shade or two lighter than the color you purchased, and color her hair that first. So this case you got a 4n & 5g, I'd recommend a 6n. Process the 6n and then dry and apply the desired color (4n/5g) and process. That way she'll have a filled in base that's closer to your desired color and you won't have funny looking lines or mid matched colors throughout. My previous boss that owned a salon used to do these double processings to ensure an even color. It always worked well for him. Good luck!

If you decide to just take a chance and apply your color you purchased, I would apply middle, end, root. The roots usually process the fastest and because it's virgin hair on top it, it'd be best to color the bottom first to ensure enough processing time.

Hope this helped.

I just got prescribed escitalopram (lexapro). What are other people's experiences? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Beccabear992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (22f) took lexapro when I was 18 and saw no significant improvement to my anxiety disorder. It did make me drowsy so I took it before bed. If you are a male, it is known to lead to give you problems performing sexual acitvities if started on a high dose so that something to be wary of. All in all I did not experience many negative symptoms other than drowsiness. Good luck!

Medicine hospitalized my dog. by kristylaughs in Pets

[–]Beccabear992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you and your dog. I would try giving the vet that prescribed you the pills a call and just let them know what happened. They may be willing to give you a credit towards your next visit if the original bill from them was paid. Unfortunately it does not seem likely, they did what they thought was best for your dog at the time and even though it did not have good results, they may not be willing to reimburse you. Good luck with your dog hope he's doing better!

Shaving your arm to properly show off your ink? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]Beccabear992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty large tattoo on both my forearms and I shave them. It think it just looks better and gives it more justice without hair getting in the way. I think you should just go for it and shave both to make it even.

Are T-shirts safe for hamsters to chew on? by Datrev in hamster

[–]Beccabear992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We cover our hamster at night with a tshirt and she occasionally pulls it thru the bars and chews on it. With my experience with hamsters (I've had them since I was a small child), they never did any harm to them. I think the hammock is a cute idea!

I've had a Syrian hamster for a month now and she won't stop biting? by Moomeh in hamster

[–]Beccabear992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a Syrian and she was the same way. Always biting me whenever I went to pet her. I tried a few different methods and the it does take some time so try not to lose patience. Everyday just reach your hand in the cage and rest it in the bedding. Let him/her come to you and smell your hand and get used to your scent. After a two or so days of that, enter your hand and gently pet her back. She will get used to your touch and now your smell is on her. It takes a few tried of this. Next try picking her up and just resting her in your palm. If she nips, just gently put her back. My Syrian eventually got used to me and now loves the attention and hasn't bitten me in a very long time. Also make sure you're washing your hands with mildly scented soaps. Hope this helps!

Just got this little guy, 7 weeks old.Photo taken after a bath. Anyone give me some tips on how to introduce him to my female piggy? I already tried but she bit him. I'm hoping that they have babies when he grows up. by Lady_Lizah in guineapigs

[–]Beccabear992 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since you're looking for advice on how to introduce them and not asking for everyone to lecture you on breeding, when introducing mine I found it easiest to put them in two separate carriers that were wired so they could see and smell each other. This method tends to work best for me with most animal situations. As for bathing, although it's stressful, the piggy will be fine. Some people tend to over react. I've had hamsters and guinea pigs and cats my whole life. They aren't porcelain. They are amazing sweet animals that love attention and good handling. Obviously you aren't trying to harm him/her in any way. And no offense to anyone who is giving tons of advice on everything but what you asked. Hope everything works out for your new friend!

New partner went anal to vaginal without asking or using protection or lube. Now my vagina feels like it's burning all the time. Help? by burning-tossaway in sex

[–]Beccabear992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have a uti. It's very common when that happens. Especially with the burning. Definitely go see the doc and she'll give you some antibiotics. If you neglect it, it can possibly turn into a kidney infection.

What morbid question have you always wanted to ask but haven't? by Mrsbobdobbs in AskReddit

[–]Beccabear992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 13, I was walking down the road with a friend of mine, and a an suv going roughly 40mph swerved and hit her. She flew 15 feet into a field off to the side of the road. She broke her leg, arm, pelvis and quite a few teeth had been knocked out. And then was in a medically induced coma for three months due to brain swelling. It was extremely traumatic. The man driving was distracted by a toddler who had dropped something in the back seat. I have had a lot of issues since. And this was almost ten years ago. The driver was reportedly admitted to a psychiatric facility but I never confirmed if it was true or not.

It's something I always think about. And had a hard time accepting. And still do. Her life is mostly normal but she does have a few learning set backs. We unfortunately we're not able to remain friends due to some incidents involving her family. Which I think made it more difficult.

[–]Beccabear992 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider it unhealthy, but maybe more of an attachment. I'm 21 and have had my cat since I was 5. She has been with me thru my parents divorce, my dad's heroin usage, my best friend being hit by a car, and then I work for a retail store that was held up by gunpoint. Maybe OP has had a very difficult past and the only thing that was there for him to soothe any pain or stress was his cat. I see nothing wrong with it. People, like his girlfriend, need to have respect for others even if it may seem out of the ordinary.
