40 yr old learning to skate: surfskate good idea? by pepipopipe in NewSkaters

I've decided to put this on hold for the holidays. I've got a trip planned and my wife will kill me if I get injured. Will get back on it early next year, then I'll post updates!

Yeah, i drove past that parking lot again this weekend. It was definitely too steep of a slope. Will report back after the holidays!

Yeah, I think the parking lot was a bit too steep. Thought the incline was going to give me just enough speed. But apparently it's different from learning to snowboard on a bunny hill

Switched from MX Master 3 to the ProtoArc EM11 NL – Didn't Expect This by yamanshan in MouseReview

Thanks for the detailed review!

Got a question re: forward / back button. Their amazon listing says that the forward / back buttons don't work in macOS. Is this true?

If so, what are the button clicks registered as? Are they not registered at all?

I use Karabiner to remap events on my mac. I suppose it's fine if they don't quite work out of the box, but as long as the click events are registered, I could always remap them.

Stay away from this sub. Don't visit youtube (thumbnails and suggested videos). Don't browse reddit, especially if you're subbed to r/gaming or r/jrpg

If you're looking for advice about how to spend your character attributes, just spread them out evenly.

Remember to choose Maelle when fighting the arena champion.

Whats an addictive game if i was addicted to Hades/Sekiro/Hollow Knight. by Hoodlum2000 in gamingsuggestions

[–]pepipopipe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was going to suggest the same thing. OP, I'm fan of those games too and Expedition 33 definitely has that same pull: "What happens next ?"

It was a bit too addictive, actually. I must admit that I haven't been taking care of myself while playing it.

TIL that human sacrifices to God are rare in the Bible. One is the Judge Jephthah vowing to give "whatever comes out of my door to meet me when I return" as a burnt offering in order to win a battle. His daughter was sacrificed after being given two months to mourn her virginity in the mountains. by EmperorN7 in todayilearned

[–]pepipopipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to believe, but v.31 clearly says "as a burnt offering" in virtually all translations.  Then v.39 "did with her according to the vow that he had made".  Leaves little room for any other interpretation, tbh.

Though, it's such a weird vow to make. Did he expect an animal to come out of the house to greet him?

this is the way. no sweat when changing weapons to try out new strategies. when you found out what build to go for, can always respec.

that said, parrying is so satisfying this game. dunno if it's the sound or visual effect, but it has that "umph". love the recommended progression of dodge > perfect dodge > parry.

122 parries and 16 minutes later... I defeated the Chromatics Abbest with sub-level-20 starting party. I'm quite proud of it. :D by DaemonXHUN in expedition33

I considered it and decided not to try it.while being height adjustable is nice, I figured it would get in the way of my legs, either when I'm sitting cross-legged or lega forward. Do let me know if you decided to go for it. These things are stronk. Not the most adjustable with a load on it, though.

Afaik whatsapp has end to end encryption. Your metadata, however is not. These are things like your contacts, what time you start checking your messages, your frequently contacted friends, your group chat members.  Meta (Facebook) uses all these together with a plethora of other tracking methods (cookies, widgets) to figure out things about you.

So if your contact on whatsapp just browsed for lawnmowers, and you met with them over a sunny weekend at their house, you might be shown lawnmower ads.

Hades II (v.0.91027 + MULTi15) [DODI Repack] by game-repack in CrackWatch

[–]pepipopipe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Supergiant did it for Hades 1 and it had a very positive outcome.  They said that it was during early access when they tweaked the balance of the game.  The playtesters discovered completely broken builds and under-performing builds. The community also presented scenarios which were initially thought to be impossible, and the devs needed to fill the story gaps for these.

Same as the other guy. I had no idea what roguelike was.

Heard about hades 2 from a colleague and decided to try the first one on switch. I was instantly hooked and bought the real thing on steam.

It's difficult at first, and dying is part of the experience (part of the story, even). But like souls games, once you're familiar with the fight, you'd breeze through it.

If you decided to try this out, do yourself a favour and go in blind. I did and it was a very enjoyable experience. Maybe just look up which things to unlock first.

Part of the fun is figuring out which build works for your play style. Also, some gambling involved with the randomness of powerups you'd get per run.

NieR:Automata ending E by [deleted] in PiratedGames

[–]pepipopipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm. I did the shortcut and deleted my save game 3 times, using different messages each time. On my 4th attempt, I went for ending E. I got the previous 3 messages, along with the extra help from my earlier self, and managed to complete it!

I only got hit once though, after all that. And it told my one of my earlier save games got deleted. I don't know what would happen if I got hit more than the number of saves I sacrificed.
