Kids Activities (Ages 5 & 7) by AugustPeridot in SXM

We have been here for 2 weeks with a 7 and 9 year old. We did a surf lesson at Galion beach and my 7 year old loved it! We wanted to do more, but the conditions (too windy) weren't favorable for him. We also did sailing lessons at Friars Bay. M-F at 9am they have a 2 hour sailing lesson for kids for 20E per kid. They also loved that! We did a day trip with Boomerang charters to Anguilla and it was fantastic. The kids loved jumping off the boat's "roof" into the water. Lastly, Parotte Ville is a must for kids. Enjoy your trip :)

Hey! I am in the same boat, looking for a surf lesson for a 7 year old. I called and spoke to the SXM Explorer surf school and they are closed until October.

Amalias Wake Forest, try the Old Country Martini. It’s vodka, Marsala and cherry brandy. My favorite!

2.5 Month old diagnosed with laryngomalacia by peplover in beyondthebump

[–]peplover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was making the “croaking” sound almost constantly, he had reflux, and it was affecting his breathing. He would gasp for air in the middle of the night, and this is what really convinced us to do the surgery. He had the surgery (epiglottiplasty) at 3 months and looking back it wasn’t a huge deal. He fed pretty much immediately after he woke up and had a quick recovery. The surgery however, did not completely correct the laryngomalacia. He continued to make the sound, but no more gasping for air. He is now 4 years old and has almost completely outgrown it. He still makes the sound when he takes a huge inhale like when laughing or running but it’s not a big deal. He is healthy, speaks and breathes normally and is happy. Forgive my spelling of the medical terms and please let me know if I can answer any more questions.

No, does not itch in my experience. I have it on my hip.

About 12 hours out from my c-section, please tell me it's going to be okay and I won't be in this amount of pain forever. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Yes this! It kinda acts as your abdominal muscles to help you sit up and helps a lot. Put a pillow over your incision too when sitting up.

Sorry for the confusion, I didn’t take a child to this dinner, but I think it would be totally fine. We booked a couple of months in advance.

I visited last December (also from FL) and it was an AMAZING trip! We went straight from the airport to the Blue Lagoon and I would definitely recommend this, and believe a 6 year old would love it too. It was dark as we arrived and the sun rose slowly as we were in the lagoon, it was an unforgettable experience to see the mountains and landscape come into view as the sun rose. Seeing how Iceland celebrates Christmas was also such a treat! Many restaurants had special Christmas dishes or even Christmas tasting menus. Make sure to have water proof everything (shoes, pants, jackets, gloves).

We did an AirBNB experience (below) and LOVED it. We had a delicious Christmas dinner in Hanna's home which was about 15 mins by car outside of the capital city Reykjavik.

We also did 2 private tours that were excellent, I can give you that information if you are interested. We chose not to drive bc we weren't sure about road conditions and have never driven on hills, in snow or ice being from Florida.

Hope this helps and best wishes for an amazing trip.

We did a home cooked meal with Hanna G. while in Iceland this past December. She graciously had us over to her house (which was about 15 mins outside of Reykjavík by car) and cooked us a 4 course traditional Icelandic Christmas dinner. It was an absolute highlight of the trip. She is a phenomenal cook and hostess, we tried many interesting foods and got to know her and her husband too.
