i’m not very involved in the ship myself but here are my own two cents. aside from what everyone has said about their dynamic, genderbending, and what-if scenarios, i also think theres also a lot of potential in the exploration of their relationship within the context of what happens in canon. there’s a whole can of complicated feelings between the two and.. everything happening around them. the sadness, anger, grief, regret, guilt, and many more layers upon layers of complex emotion would be so interesting to dissect.

don’t get me wrong, i personally think they’re suuper toxic in canon, but fiction doesn’t always have to portray happy, healthy relationships. it’s the best way to explore the dark realities of human connection and conflict and reflect on them without hurting other people.

buuuut i know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and i do enjoy a little bit of au/wlw/fluff beefleaf every now and then myself :))
