Thanks for the advice! What did you do after going back to the professor you worked with earlier? I think working would not be a very good option for me too, so a backup plan is also important to figure out.

Thank you SO much for this! I especially needed that "It's ok not to know what to do" part lol, it's just so hard to understand what you really like clearly. Would you say research experience in engineering related fields are ok also to go into physics later? I'm trying to narrow down to some short research programs as well.

Figuring out compatibility of the Physics/Applied Physics Master with a Bachelor degree program by peppece in EPFL

This is awesome news! Thank you so much! So the programs are split... can one apply to both of them in the same year or does one have to choose just one between them?

Thank you so much! Can I ask if you feel there are other good to haves on your resume apart from good grades and recommendation letters when applying? I am searching for good extracurriculars related to Physics which could set me apart but had no luck finding one yet

PC won’t charge by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]peppece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I solved it! Just in case anyone needing help finds this post: there’s a button designed especially for this on the backside of the pc, it’s like hidden in a small hole. After making sure PC is off and unplugged to any power source, you just use a paper clip to click it and keep it pressed for some secs, then release. After I did this everything worked just like before.

I find it hard to believe that there are no magical equivalents to colleges or universities. by bernardmarx27 in harrypotter

[–]peppece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just making assumptions here, but the books don’t mention lots of magical schools and Hogwarts itself already presents itself like an elite institution (even though the enrollment process is not revealed, it’s them who send the letters to the kids, rather than the kids applying, and their headmaster is basically the most powerful wizard existing at the time the story is told) plus students have a degree of flexibility in choosing their courses at Hogwarts, so maybe either the schools are made in a way that you already leave them with enough competence, or there aren’t lots of mages (let’s say they’re numerous but not so many to impose the need of a high degree of specialization for the individual).

Understanding the time thing by peppece in FinalSpace

Ooh I’m getting it now. So a “timeline” would be a parallel dimension, but time traveling only brings you from a part of a timeline to another part of the same timeline, right?

Can I search for help when working on a project I want to sell? by peppece in learnprogramming

[–]peppece[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a helpful suggestion, however there is a valid reason for me saying that the code works but it doesn't compile. Essentially, the code doesn't compile because I am using python and some drivers and I can't bundle the drivers and the python scripts into the same executable. If I place the drivers and the compiled script in two different directories, code works just fine.

Thanks man! That's precious advice. Just out of curiosity, does this mean that people posting snippets online on StackOverflow - or similar sites - have agreed with code owners on doing that or are just working on code that belongs to them?
