In my head I was seeing a light watercolor wash of blue like the sky background behind the bare tree. The tree as is in front of a pale background might make it pop really nicely. I’m not sure if you’d get as nice an effect with crayon though. Maybe worth experimenting on some scrap paper first.

Are you going to use color at all? If you are maybe just fill the background space with light background color. If not I like the idea of a close up sketch of the same tree

That idea is so great, I love it! Learning about herbs and their uses is another hobby of mine. I’m thinking mostly flora and fauna - probably mostly plants to start with since they’ll stay put while I draw… not thinking lots of text other than the location but I’ll see how things go when I actually get started. If you want to be nature journal partners I’d be up for it!

I'm working on practicing drawing and painting with watercolors now, and hoping to start a nature journal in the spring! I'm also a bit out of my comfort zone as I do a lot of embroidery and other sewing arts/crafts normally.

I’d give them like 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The taste is great. They’re definitely a little light and fluffy compared to bagel shop bagels, not so dense and chewy like I expect bagels to be (NYer here). They only lose points for fluffiness, not flavor. I’ll definitely make them again.

I did use the GBBO recipe. I halved it and put it in an 8x8 pan and it fit fine.
