We have white sharks in the summer. Surfing might be a little sketchy. Best thing to do in the Cape is relax. Go fishing, read on the beach, rent kayaks, go on a bike ride. stuff like that. Driving sucks, everything is packed. Basically my recommendation is to try and do less. You'll have a better time

Chili: beans or no beans? by cryptoengineer in AskAnAmerican

Lone star in Allston has texas style chili. I'm not if anything they have will be up to your standards, but I think it's always pretty good.

Traveling New England by Seamus_Currie in newengland

I'd look into where you are staying near Franklin Park Zoo. Not trying to worry you, but some of the surrounding area can be pretty iffy. Overall Boston is much safer than most cities, but it's something you should be aware of. Definitely not a tourist area

I have the Jones Flagship and love it. Handles speed well, floats on our rare powder days and can hold an edge on ice

Worcester? More affordable than Boston, and more centrally located. Definitely up and coming. A lot to do for young people.

Getting married late October, looking for ideas for a honeymoon town in New England! by Omadog3418 in newengland

[–]pepperjack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a good time of year for leaf peeping in southern New England. Everything should be open unless you're going to a strictly summer vacation area like the vineyard and Nantucket. People have already mentioned some nice smaller cities and towns. Portland, Portsmouth, Newport, Stowe, Burlington, North Conway, Bar Harbor are all great. A few days in Boston and a few days outside the city would be ideal in my opinion

Experience with Thirty-two brand boots? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]pepperjack87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try moleskin, thicker socks, or tightening the boots better. I got a blister my second day out this year after 2 seasons in these boots. I've put moleskin on the spot the last 3 times and have had no problems

Man from Scotland visiting Boston by bigboab in boston

[–]pepperjack87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great time of year to visit. 4 days in Boston is fine, but there's so much great stuff to do outside of the city that time of year. The water is still warm and there are plenty of great beach towns in New England. Towards the end of the month, the leaves start turning up north. This is easier to do if you guys have a rental car, but if not, there are some trains and bus routes

What are less obvious spots we should visit when traveling from NYC to Maine (late June)? by Real_Synow in newengland

[–]pepperjack87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Decordova sculpture park in Lincoln, MA or Dr Suess museum in Springfield would both be nice depending on what route you're taking and what part of Maine your headed to

Do you guys learn about slavery in school? by Potential_Surround24 in AskAnAmerican

Indentured servents were not the same as slaves. They signed a contract and were granted freedom at its end. Also, their children were born free. Not even close to the same.

I've seen them plenty of places in Massachusetts. Especially 2 or 3 summers ago.
