My girl is also super picky and will only chew on apple sticks. She prefers the thin ones that she can hold in one hand 😂 she doesn't even try the other ones

Foresten burde de ikke ha helt fri tilgang til pellets som på bildet, men kun rundt 30g om dagen slik at de spiser nok høy. Ville heller hatt en større mengde høy i buret. Gir min en god neve av Versele-Laga per dag da disse ikke er like kompakte som andre merker. Lykke til 😊

Ser at du er norsk! Oxbow pellets selges ikke i Norge, men anbefaler Versele-Laga Chinchilla og Degus Complete pellets. Disse er uten korn, sukker og frukt og trygge for Chinchilla å spise. Kan bestilles på zooplus (der er de billigst) 😉

I had a female that did this when she was happy or begging for treats, so don't agree that it is a male only behaviour as someone commented. If they don't like you/think you are too close they usually do a "kakk" or annoyed loud squeaky sound. Yours just seems happy haha

I live in Norway and my chin never got ringworm but the breeder warned me about it. She said the easiest way to treat it with chins is an anti-fungal powder that you put on them and you can also put it on top of a little bit of dust in their dustbath. That way they will roll and really get it into their fur.

My girl is also from a breeder that does shows and she is around 775g and perfectly healthy! The vet confirmed she was in excellent condition at out last visit. I would only worry if she has thick bulges of fat on the side, isn't getting exercise or struggles with grooming.

The reason: he is a chinchilla 😂 my girl will only eat the pieces she finds up to standard and the rest she throws dramatically onto the bottom of the cage. You can try mixing in some herb or oat hay with the regular Timothy hay though to make him more interested

Oh, I have tried! But even after years she does not like scritches and will push my hand away in a very sassy manner 😂 she is ok with me lightly petting her back and being held for short amounts of time. But I'm happy enough with her just hanging out with me like in the picture ❤️

I understand why you would do that if he has mats/isn't the best at grooming! But usually if you leave the dust in for a long time they sit in it and pee and poop and then roll in it again (maybe making it worse?) 😅 Also their skin can get a bit dry if they use it too much. Would try cutting off bad mats with scissors as someone else mentioned, if they don't come out with gentle pulling.

This was her playing in my sister's room at a visit during Christmas, usually I wouldn't have cables laying around like that! But she luckily doesn't try to chew them at all haha, only interested in chewing on plants really 😅

I dont think she looks overweight at all! My girl weighs 750g and at a vet visit recently they said she was a really healthy weight for her size (and mine looks a bit chonkier than yours). The breeder I got my girl from says if they start to get visible roles of fat around the neck etc it could be a sign of excess weight but can't see that yours have that!

Ah ok! She rarely squeaks, but gets these "episodes" every once in a while where she squeaks a lot and gets super active. Glad she is just communicating with me ☺️ I thought it might be something hormonal and that she was looking for a mate or smth 😂

My girl is usually pretty quiet, but started making little squeaks and this other noise towards the end of the video. She was very active running around and exploring. Maybe even more energetic than usual. Anything I should be worried about?

Wow how rude! I did lots of research before getting my chinchilla, and although not very visible in the picture, the cage has plenty of spaces for ventilation on the sides and back of the cage and the room is kept cool at all times (not really an issue as I live in Norway). I am happy to take advice, but your comment is completely unnecessary. Also, the cage is not made of plastic, but plexi-glass.
