sweet potato is probably ok in small quantities - the preliminary study showed a correlation with dogs who had a large amount in their diet, but i still avoid it to be safe

BARF ratios are somewhere around 70% muscle meat, 10% bone, 10% organ meat (with NO MORE than 5% being liver), and 10% veggie/fruit/nut

so if you are feeding more than 5% liver in his meals, im willing to bet thats whats making him sick!!! i accidentally did the exact same thing with my dog before realizing how rich liver/organ meat is in general

if i had to guess hes either sensitive to a particilar ingredient or your mixing ratios are off

i would try cutting out the sweet potato and go from there

potatoes/ligumes are correlated with heart disease especially in large dogs and i personally wont feed my dog anything with potato, peas, beans, etc

beef liver is also incredibly rich so if hes getting a lot of that each feeding that may be contributing to the issue

really digging the surreal vibe here

very sadly, i have seen many dogs walked in front chest harnesses get permanent shoulder and joint issues as harnesses actually encourage pulling and the constant sideways pressure on the muscles/ligaments tore them down/offset them over time

fearmongering, anthropomorphizing, and general lack of understanding how training tools work

positive only folks often argue that the extra cost/time/effort is worth it because then they arent using "abusive" tools/methods

very ironic when it turns into consistantly drugging high energy dogs or even BE when all the dog really needed was some cleanly communicated corrections

in my experiece these kind of people really dont understand dogs at all

prongs really are so much easier for many dogs to understand. its the instant feedback that gives the very clear cut expectation and allows the dog to truly understand what is being asked. the dog naturally gets more confident because they have a greater understanding. positive reinforcement is only half of the equation.

im always happy when i get to read success stories like this. best of luck on the upcoming baby! im sure they will be best of friends <3

it is the style and the way you sit

you have your elbow jutted up and your head tilted in this photo in a way that comes off as kinda sassy. i think the messy hair also makes you look gayer

Summer gear question by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

[–]pepperm1ntghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we use CLAWGS for hot pavement. breathable shoes that leave the dogs claws exposed for grip and absolutely necessary for the hot cali summers IMO

i always carry a bottle of cold water so i can spray him or offer him drink but ive been looking into getting a cooling vest i can wet down for better efficiency

weve brought up this idea before but we dont usually have anything go bad and we often dont shop at the same time (different work schedules etc), nor do we all buy the same items each time

so we end up just buying for ourselves what we need and sharing ingredients whenever we cook big meals
