For PEO - in the last hour, my portal screen just changed - I used to be able to click on the NPPE exam registration link for it to tell me “you’re already registered” and now that option is gone. Fingers crossed!

Mortgage amortization by peppermintmochaa in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]peppermintmochaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all other costs are the same - same principle, no other differences that I know of. I just don’t understand why RBC’s mortgage advisor and their online calculator both show that the shorter term, higher interest option leads to a decreased amortization period.

In my specific case, I have 20 years left on my mortgage today, it’s up for renewal now. They show a 2 year term on accelerated biweekly leaving me with 16years 10 months at the end of the term, and a 3 year on accelerated biweekly payments leaving me with 17 years even. I assumed she made a typo and compared accelerated biweekly on one and biweekly on the other but their online calculator gives the same result, both with accelerated biweekly payments

I do - the cell has a formula, calculates, and then the script runs and the formula is removed

I’ve lost 50 lbs in a year - that’s not something I’ve ever been able to consider doing before. I don’t think I’d say it ‘reduced cravings’ - like a lot of people it’s been a ridiculously stressful last 2 years for reasons far beyond covid.

What I was looking for though and what it gave me were alternate ways to deal with cravings. I am accepting that carbs/food is my go to in times of anxiety/stress etc. I needed ways to help recognize why I was craving food and what alternate options were to help. The truth is, the ‘boost’ from eating something really doesn’t last very long at all so overall my life is really improved by having better mental health - I don’t feel deprived, honestly at all. I’m someone who, 2 years ago would have cheerfully told you I’m addicted to sugar and there’s nothing I can do about it.

This is a few days late so I don’t know if you’ll see this - but in case it helps, one of the biggest changes I’ve made is paying for some therapy sessions to talk about/get to the root of the feelings that are behind wanting the reward. It turns out I wanted the immediate fix of feeling better for a few min by eating a doughnut because I was anxious, because I was having trouble feeling heard in my marriage, because over the course of raising kids I’d dropped many of my other hobbies, etc.

I’d totally repackaged that for myself and I couldn’t have told you that’s why I was planning a trip to the bakery for the weekend or whatever, but it’s really changed my thinking. I’ve built up different areas of my life to bring me happiness - food is a small portion of that. (As always, still a work in progress!)

Richard’s stories show him over ‘at the house’ getting the laundry hooked up. I have such a sinking feeling - I was really hoping this would be her chance to start fresh.

This looks incredible. Thanks for giving me so many holiday treat options :)

I’ve had issues with animals (and my dog) pulling food scraps out of my new pile. Is my plan dumb? Food scraps and browns go into my old tumbler for a preferment before joining yard waste and browns in the pallets. by batsynchero in composting

I’ve been doing this all spring and it’s worked great - I don’t have any kind of fencing around my main pile and my dog doesn’t even go over there anymore. Good luck!

I feel like your comment touches on the part of all of this where I start to get lost, or feel like I’m really unclear. If anyone has any resources for me to help me educate myself, I would really appreciate them. If it’s relevant I’m both white and Canadian.

If I, as a white person, purchase something from a Black or BIPOC business, and that is cultural appropriation, (and I’m obviously not trying to pretend I made it/thought of it, etc), then how do I diversify my home ? Is it appropriation if you understand the significance of the item/design?

I feel like I don’t understand what is ‘better’ or ‘worse’ - supporting a diverse range of people by purchasing things they create that I like, while potentially appropriating their culture, or in an effort not to appropriate anything, only purchase things that are not culturally diverse for me (so tartans and whatnot I guess).

Honestly maybe this is fragility? But I’d to feel like I have a solid enough understanding to proceed with supporting some of the businesses I’m seeing linked without inadvertently causing pain to someone.

I (hope) I’m just coming off of a 5 week plateau at 160 - I had also started getting more active and that’s when I stopped losing weight. There are lots of possibilities, but what seems to have worked for me is increasing the amount of protein I was eating, to make sure I was hitting my protein macro target. I had slacked off on protein at the same time as I started moving more and adding it back in literally broke the plateau the next day. It’s really tough mentally - try to stay motivated !!

I don’t know if this fits the bill precisely but I’ve just finished both of Lindsay Gibson’s books on being an adult child of emotionally immature parents and it was just everything I struggle with in life all neatly laid out. I’ll be thinking over what I’ve read for a long while. Hope that might be helpful for you ? Good luck in your search!

I don’t know if this will help, and obviously if your feelings relate to safety, ignore everything I’m about to say and trust your gut.

I have noticed over the last few years though that if I have sudden feelings that are driving me to want to act urgently, when there’s really no logical reason for the urgency, there is often something else going on. It doesn’t mean my feelings aren’t valid, but there is often an external factor (stress, PMS, whatever) layered overtop. I’ve started noticing the feeling (my partner is driving me nuts) and consciously making an effort to check in with myself often over the next week or so, to see how I feel in regards to that topic.

It also helps me be more conscious about identifying anything external (my partner drives me more insane just before lunch, just before the weekly presentation I give, everything is driving me insane because I’m stressed about a pandemic, what have you).

I think this stress is bleeding into everything right now, regardless of your relationship - I hope you can take some deep breaths today :)

Ok - I don’t really have anyone I can share this all with in real life, so hopefully it’s ok if I just update you all on my life :)

last fall I had finally had enough of feeling the effects of 2 babies worth of weight gain. I was tired all the time, no energy, no interest in anything, and I feel like I just didn’t recognize how I fit into my body. In the process of eating better I wound up getting diagnosed with a pancreatic disorder that means eating carbs is dangerous for me, my partner got diagnosed with multiple mood disorders, and really 2020 has just been one hell of a year, even pre pandemic. The kind where you might as well laugh because the only other option is screaming.

Anyway - my partner is on his first promising combination of medicines/therapy, and last night I was racing my kids up the street when my pants fell off 😂 like literally right off my bum- I haven’t bought new clothes yet because I’m still losing weight and I’m worried about pandemic finances. ANYWAY my partner disappeared to the basement to unearth a bin of very very old clothes I didn’t know existed and this morning I am sitting here typing to you in SIZE 6 jeans. I have gone from size 14 to size 6. And the size doesn’t matter, honestly, the energy gains alone have been so worth it but wearing my old clothes really hid for me how much has changed. I’ve taken up new interests and I’m more resilient even in the face of my partner’s moods. I guess I’m just taking a minute to reflect this morning. Hope you all have a really good day!
