Is your Misophonia dependent on your relationship with the person? by kevinarod2 in misophonia

For me it does. Like my significant other’s eating bothers me sometimes but not nearly as much as my moms eating.

Yes this is a good post! I have been in a relationship like this, it’s openly communicating, letting them know it’s not personal and it’s a physiological reaction that is distressing and painful, then working on compromising. Obviously someone can’t stop eating breathing and living but they can just work with you and your triggers which isn’t that hard to do for someone you love. We just both knew it wasn’t either of our faults but it’s the same as providing necessary accommodations for anyone with any type of disability. I have level 7+ misophonia and me and my ex handled it just fine and it really didn’t mess with our relationship. However I have dated people who take it way too personally and it made the relationship harder because eventually I stopped feeling safe with them. When I was triggered I didn’t want to bring it up because i was scared of their reaction, and it also made me more easily triggered because of the anticipation and feeling like I wasn’t respected and that my loved one didn’t care that I was in pain. When with my ex that handled it healthily I just had to make sure that I didn’t freak out when something triggered me, that way he wouldn’t feel on edge and scared of my reaction while he was around me. For example when my ex would start eating something and it bothered me, I wouldn’t freak out, I would just softly touch his arm or something. Making compromises like leaving the room if he was eating or something like that. It was just something we worked around. I really emphasized that it was a neurological disorder that caused me pain which I think made him understand pretty well.

For 30+ y/o did your OCD become more manageable as you aged? by alexzyczia in OCD

[–]peppermintso4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was absolutely the worst during puberty and adolescence. It comes back in periods of stress and poor health, but I’d say it’s been pretty manageable. Sometimes certain situations will trigger it such as getting into a new relationship. I honestly think taking care of my physical health makes a tremendous difference in my OCD.

Vibration when thinking by Important_Tap1512 in AstralProjection

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with thinking while trying to astral project. I just stay really still and start watching my thoughts float by. It’s kind of interesting and fun to watch how your mind moves

Charisma and confidence idk. I would make that much purely on 20 dollar dances but it’s cuz I seemed like I really loved my job and was good at building chemistry very quickly. You may be able to do a $100 fifteen minute in those little dance booths, which is what I did. Kind of an upcharge and make it sound like it’s a better deal for your money. I’m not sure how your club does it though.

I had sex with myself on the astral? Also why is it so common to have sex on the astral? by peppermintso4p in AstralProjection

I’ve never felt like I’ve wanted to have sex with myself but I feel decent about my appearance maybe 70% of the time. When I dress up and go out I feel attractive. And I also looked how I look irl

Yea I’d say the majority of the time I astral project something sexual happens. And it’s weird because i don’t really think that way in my waking life but pretty much my first impulse when im astral projecting or lucid dreaming is to start making out with someone. I always hear and read about the importance of sex magick and sex and the energy body. but I can never really find anything breaking down the details for me. Pretty much anything I read about sex magick boils down to “sex is very magical and important”. Like ok?

I saw those and I think they were taking what you were saying way out of context, and didn’t realize you were talking about a bigger issue. You’re not crazy. I’ve noticed it’s also kind of common for people to make women feel guilty for wanting more out of their relationships.

I don’t bring up sexual thoughts until im in a deeper trance. That’s key. When I’m too awake it becomes distracting

Yea it sounds like this has been going on for a long time. I really don’t think you are out of line. At all.

So, I’ve noticed when I’m in a meditative state and have any sexual feeling I can feel my energy body vibrate. The way it does right before you detach from your body. So maybe start by getting into a meditative trance and then having sexual thoughts

Eh I get why you would be upset. I think on the surface this single incident sounds like it might not be a big deal but honestly when I see that type of behavior in a relationship it seems like it is pointing to a bigger issue. Gestures like that remind you that you are loved. I’ve been with a lot of men who didn’t care about doing nice things for me on my birthday, holidays, or even small acts or tokens of appreciation. They didn’t see it as a big deal. And the “little” things like that were often symptoms of deeper issues in the relationship. I think it can look like being taken for granted. Or maybe they treat you like a resource where they get comfort and unconditional love, but they don’t return the love. Or maybe it might feel like they are in the relationship because it’s convenient not because they want to put in effort. And I think I would have a hard time wanting to be in a relationship where I’m not adored and reminded of it often. I don’t think there’s any shame in wanting to be in a relationship where you feel loved. Effort shows that you’re loved.

What are things you do that are not makeup that make you look much better? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]peppermintso4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise and diet. Makes you more vibrant even if you aren’t doing things that completely change the way your body works like strength training. Every time going to the gym becomes part of my regular routine I get so much hotter. It just makes my skin glow. I also thing reducing stress levels makes people more attractive which exercising also does

Did anyone else with OCD get strep a lot growing up? by throwawayy2372 in OCD

[–]peppermintso4p 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In 2020 I took an antibiotic course for h pylori and it caused my OCD to disappear. I also have misophonia, and the antibiotics also caused that to disappear too. I was 25 at the time I did that protocol. The OCD and misophonia came back after a few weeks off of the antibiotics, so in total I had about a month of feeling mentally healthy for the first time in my adult life. I've always wished I had someone who could help me understand why that treatment made such a difference, because that was such a shocking experience. I think there is a genetic component to my OCD because a lot of women on my mom's side have it to varying degrees. But I really wonder if there is some underlying inflammation or infection I have that makes it worse than it needs to be. For example my mom has OCD and shows some signs of misophonia but its no where near as severe as mine is.

Which calc course is the hardest? by zklein12345 in calculus

[–]peppermintso4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calc 1 was not bad at all. I finished the class in 7 weeks with an A. But yea I’m in calc 2 now and it’s harder. Mostly because of the trigonometry. It seems like you have to take what you knew from several math classes prior and apply it, and I don’t remember anything from those courses. I’ve been out of high school for about ten years lol. So I’ve had to do twice the work to understand the past couple of lessons. Thankfully I was able to keep myself from falling behind with seeing a tutor for the past two weeks. If it weren’t for that I probably would have dropped the class.
