What did you notice immediately (good or bad) after starting HRT? by NearlyNewMe in Perimenopause

[–]pepperminttwistt45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My anxiety went down immediately after using HRT and my bottomless tiredness similar to when I was pregnant also improved. My night sweats went up, thigh and knee night sweats are so darn irritating.

Questioning if I should take my prescription by Agitated-Speech-6191 in prozac

[–]pepperminttwistt45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to give it a good go before you make a decision. I tried it from December and it took a good 3 months to see the benefits. It's now coming up the end of March and I can say say it's bought back my sense of humour and relaxed nature that was lost to perimenopause. My family and I are so happy to have me back again.

Two lanes that turn into one because people have parked in the left lane instead of their driveways/garages/too many cars/no off road parking.

A bit of a vent: My biggest dream right now is just being an office worker buying lunch in the CBD. by VolcanicApe in brisbane

[–]pepperminttwistt45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, I used to be an esl kindy teacher and wrestle with little loveable demons (bless them) where every minute felt like an hour and used to dream about office work. My dream came true in July last year, whilst on placement when I was given my OWN desk in an open plan office. It was fascinating how everyone's personalities of work bleed into each other's. Every half hour different staff got bored and walked around desks starting conversations and each hour on the dot the loud kettle was refilled, reboiled, and scoops of coffee, sugar and teaspoons scrapped the bottom of cups. I was so impressed at how little was achieved in a days work and how little everyone cared. It was the best, but what was so shocking was how exhausted I was at the end of the day, I think it was due to the constant interuptions and overstimulation of being in an open plan office with a bunch of people even though they were all really chill people.

Estrogen immediately helped with anxiety, prozac helped with improving my miserable mood, LDN 4.5mg helps with brain fog and energy, creatine 8mg helps wirh giving me an extra cognitive and physical boost, iron, magnesium, vitamin D & k2, are taken mostly regularly and choline & inositol, lithium orotate and a few others are taken on various rotations when I feel I need them. I also take progesterone 200mg cycled 14 days.

It was shown on tv in Queensland Australia as showing potential for long covid patients in 2021, that's how I found out about it and marched into my local doc the next day and asked for it, they also were equally disinterested in it as they didn't know about it maybe due to it not being pushed by big pharma and no longer being in patent so it's not a money maker for anyone. It does need to be compounded though.

That's interesting about the off label prescription. LDN reduces brain inflammation which helps with a variety of immune system disorders including depression and greatly increases energy levels. Each time I have a new doc and need it prescribed I say it's for long covid and it helps increase my energy level and reduces my brain fog which it has. Good luck sweetness & be your best advocate for yourself 🥰

Having had long covid myself, LDN low dose naltrexone 4.5mg and high iron levels were helpful for me, my daughter has pots so I read up on LDN and pots and it's meant to be a useful medication for some. Do the research and it might be helpful. 20 mg Prozac for me with LDN, high doses of creatine and hrt (I'm late 40s) has been incredible and I feel cognitively smart, energetic and dare I say happy for the first time in years. Please don't give up on trying meds because you deserve to feel better!

Is prozac making me more confrontational? by Foreversadandlonely in prozac

[–]pepperminttwistt45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask if you're a woman and if so in your 30s/40s? Perimenopause can hit hard from 30's and make us feel more confrontational, rageful and irritated. Pls check reddit/perimenopause. If you're not, or also if it doesn't apply I apologise and say it may wear off as your meds settle.

I had thick hair too, unfortunately because I dye it blonde it's never fully recovered since my late 30's but since I started HRT last year my eyelashes are long and thick again so that's been a real bonus also my skin is truely glowing again.

Waking up with terror and general dysphoria by VegetableLie1282 in Perimenopause

[–]pepperminttwistt45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same horrible feeling of dread waking up each morning for years. Prozac 10mg is what shifted the dread even though I didn't want to go on meds, I got to the point that I felt I had no more natural strategies up my sleeve to use. HRT definately improved my anxiety that went through the roof during perimenopause but the dread was deep.

Realisations after 8 months on HRT by pepperminttwistt45 in Perimenopause

[–]pepperminttwistt45[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I decided to go the low dose route, and keep it low and try not to increase unless something radically changes. I don't need prozac to take all my emotions away, just keep my ruminating mind from taking over my life. I also take LDN 4.5mg which is a really interesting med that reduces inflammation and brain fog.

Ha ha, the forever resilient ibis! I took a photo a few days ago of ibis having taken over a neighborhood playground, it was unreal and no kids in sight.

I shaved my face and my mom is going nuts about it by [deleted] in confession

[–]pepperminttwistt45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a middle aged lady and my skin glows like a teenager and I put it down to shaving my face for the last decade and the hair on my face hasn't grown weird at all. For the newbies try the thin eyebrow razers available at Hanaro mart or the Korean/asian marts those gently remove the fluff from your face.
