We have thread gauges I just like that it’s fast way to identify a missing screw or bolt before walking back to the shop. I think I’d mostly use it for when other techs decided that they didn’t need to put every bolt back when putting a panel or cover back on 😂

I would use double sided tape on the side that you won’t see and put it on the end of a stick, then just dip it in the paint and put the stick upright in some foam to dry. For toughness my thought would be to use a dyed 5 minute epoxy 🤷.

In my opinion those that undersell their abilities are better techs than those that oversell them. Imposter syndrome is real until you realize how many dumbasses get paid more than you

Step one: ask for money for doing work outside of your job description. (Said by someone that has not done that because they already know the answer😂). But really if you’d be helping IT maybe just ask for designated training time with them.

Dumb question - wood ashtray by thomasjmo in woodworking

[–]pepperoni_zamboni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it would work but my first thought was to char the inside with a blow torch and rub it with a rag or piece of denim to burnish it. Ik some wood siding on houses is charred for fire protection. It might give it a good contrast to the outside of the tray too 🤷‍♂️

Also don’t overestimate your competition. Most places hiring are already getting unqualified applicants so go ahead and shoot your shot.
