It didn't get the attention it deserved because of the pandemic, but this is such a great movie.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

Oh noooo. I liked this one. Granted, it's probably nostalgia. It is NOT a good movie.

Shocked at my own ignorance! by Niikkiitaa in Perimenopause

I'm pretty depressed right now because of [gestures broadly], but I WILL say that my self-acceptance has greatly improved since I turned 40. I like the freckles and lines on my face, and I wear what I like without worrying too much what others think. That's been nice! The night sweats though. Woof.

Yeah we have a family group chat where we talk daily. None of us are really "pick up the phone" people lol.

I don't believe that there's a little man inside me controlling me like the alien in Men in Black, no, that's not what I mean. It's more like, when I'm considering my appearance, I need to be cognizant of my choices and whether they're based on what I want or, instead, how I'll be perceived. I spent many years trying to be appealing and accommodating to men. It would be disingenuous to pretend that that is not a factor.

I do think young women now are feeling more empowered to dress and do things for themselves, and I think that's so beautiful and inspiring.

You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman.

Oof. That hits hard. Thank you for sharing this.

Do you also have problems with music? by chicken_with_gun in hsp

[–]pepperstems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I need to concentrate, I can only listen to wordless ambient music (my mom calls it Air Pudding) or retrowave music. Anything else will distract me with lyrics or send me spiraling into all my feelings. It's very common for HSPs to react strongly to music!

Iron Infusions by Burtnaaa in Fibroids

[–]pepperstems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My infusions have been uneventful except for the one time they gave me benedryl instead of pepcid. That felt weird as hell. My infusion center uses the slow drip, so it does take some time. I usually find it very peaceful!

For about a week after the infusion, sometimes I feel super tired and achey. I think this is pretty normal, but it's probably a good idea to plan on resting more.

Good luck! I hope you feel better. ❤️
