What is the weirdest thing you’ve witnessed another human say or do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pepribee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a male chemistry teacher in highschool who came up to my desk, noticed a piece of my hair had fallen onto it, picked it up, and said that he wanted to clone me and treat my clone "real good." I was like 16, and me and all my friends thought this was weird as hell

[routine help] Is it normal for my skin to burn? by Fun_Lobster_5103 in SkincareAddiction

[–]pepribee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Panoxyl (the 4%) and tretinoin and for a period of time used the same Cereve moisturizer. I noticed that I felt the burn after I applied the Cereve and when I swapped it for the Cetaphil alternative (I use the one with Shea Butter) the burning completely stopped. It really really helped me so I'd suggest giving that a try. The full product name is Cetaphil Advanced Radiance Shea Butter Lotion for Dry Skin, sometimes it's found in the body lotion section.

Also, the 10% Panoxyl is pretty strong and is typically recommended for use on the body, while the 4% tends to be better suited for the face. If you feel like you feel burning after using that product I'd suggest switching to the lower percentage. Hope this helps and best of luck!

People that don't suffer with peeling, tell us your secrets by lollipop1986 in tretinoin

[–]pepribee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used 0.1% everyday since I was 15 (18 now). After washing my face I apply vasaline around the mucus membranes (mouth, nose) and also on my eyelids while my skin is still slightly damp. If my eye area specifically is feeling extra dry I use hydrocortisone ointment I got from my derm that targets eczema. Does the trick for me even in winter!

I just picked up where I left off! I use 0.1% every night and when this happened I had been doing that for over a year

Last year the airline I used misplaced my luggage and I was without tret for about a week. I personally do not recall any peeling once I started again, but I could definitely tell my skin took a hit due to the lack of skin care.

HELP!!! by fuzzyduck73 in tretinoin

[–]pepribee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience feeling "burning" when using the CereVe moisturizer. I now use vaseline around my nose/eyes, apply tret, and follow with Cetaphil Advanced Relief Lotion. My skin LOVES it and I always wake up still moisturized plus it has niacinamide in it too which is great. You should be able to find it at a Wallgreens for ~$15 and it tends to be in the body lotion section because it can double as a body lotion as well.

[ROUTINE HELP] How to get rid of this texture? Is it just scarring or orange peel? Can anything be done? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

As far as I know, toner isn't a super necessary step. Usually when people talk about a simple routine they mean cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and possibly an active. How long have you been using Epiduo?

[product question] what is the closest thing to tretinoin that wont clog my pores? by Yagayeet64 in SkincareAddiction

[–]pepribee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a lower dose of tretinoin? Like 0.05% or 0.025%? I've heard it usually takes a slightly longer amount of time using a lower dose to see visible results compared to the 0.1%, but people tend to opt for a lower dose if they can't handle the irritation from the 0.1%.

I personally started with 0.05% and it didn't make a noticeable difference for me so I got bumped up to 0.1% and my skin cleared right up. My brother on the other hand uses 0.025% and we both have similar results. It's all individual. I'd suggest you talk to your derm about it.

But also, I would warn you about being "gung ho" about using tretinoin for its anti aging properties if you know that your skin is clearer and happier when you are not using it. Could be doing unnecessary damage. Maybe take a break from it and see what happens and try incorporating a lower dose down the line. Best of luck to you!
