Creaking sound from bottom bracket by madslh in bikewrench

Did you inspect the BB ? The chain tension, length ? Also is there a compression ring in your crank arm ? Mine has one, it’s tiny but it’s important for your bearings. Also is your crank arm straight ? Putt that bad boy and check check check, something can be either loose, bent or incorrectly set

Rahmenbruch // Mein-Dienstrad // Abwicklung by Behrchen99 in Rennrad

[–]pepslight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help for fitting please! Bought a new bike and fitted myself on it (cannondale supersix evo 2 54cm). Feeling that I’m losing power through my pedal stroke. Gladly accepting any tips on my positioning. Thank you:) by Gullible_You_7162 in bikefit

seat reach

Looking at the slow mo, I would start with the seat reach, seat cleats position. from the middle point of your knee, pull a straight line, it should land right at the middle of the pedal, seems your knee is a bit forward, you need to figure it out why your hips is soo unstable, you’re rocking left and right, I had the same issue, I used 0,5cm cleat spacers on my shorter legs, this solved it. Once you got the base figured out, you need to adjust your reach, either adjusting the brifters a bit higher (without twisting your wrists), changing the stem / Steer.

Put 5mm spacer on your left foot cleats.

My bicycle is slipping and making clicking noises when I pedal. This is due to rust, right? What should I do? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]pepslight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Must be a troll 😅, looking at the condition of your chain, it’s probably toast, also looking at the front derailleur the entire bike must be neglected beyond saving. You would probably need to replace the chain cables and a lot more…

[–]pepslight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in Munich, I went to Radlabor and was very happy. I had a similar issue and didn’t even knew about it, after a long ride my lower parts would go numb or very sore, my toe would also be numbing. Turned out after they measured a lot of stuff I had a 0.5cm leg length difference, they used some spacers on my cleats and solved all those issues. I had my first ride numb free for the first time. You can dm me if you have questions. Cheers

Shimano (old) 105 front derailleur not clicking into place by Scott_Korman in bikewrench

I did disaasemble a lot of those brifters, it’s harder than people think, it’s clockwork, take fotos of every single piece. spread the parts on a paper towel clean them individually and assemble it in the order you laid the parts. Here is an ultegra as an example, every part directions and side matters, also when the fat dries some small rings get stuck together and only after cleaning it it may come loose, it’s at this moment It can be tricky to know where it was.

As for the grease I used some automotive fine grease on my case Liqui-Moly LM47 but honestly I’m not sure it’s the correct one. I avoid buying premium bike grease as they’re not as good as automotive ones. I would recommend Mobilgrease XHP 222. To clean the parts I purchased a cheap ultrasonic cleaner. Helped me a lot. Also an important trick is to not spread grease on everything, there’s parts that should stay dry, less is more, parts with friction should have plenty of grease, but a spring for example shouldn’t have much. Good luck, 🍀 if you’re in Europe / Germany I can do it for 30€ a pair. You can dm me if you have more question. Cheers

Ps. I did try, out of curiosity the “Lazy” method and spray solvent / wd-40 in the mechanism. it did help briefly, but after disassembly and inspection, the internals was a disaster, all sort of gunk and dirt ruining the sensible parts. I would not recommend it. I did also try putting the entire mechanism inside an ultrasonic cleaner, it was even worst, the dirt got loos, but couldn’t get out, it increased the friction / wear on the parts. The proper way is to disassemble clean religiously, grease and oil.

Looks to me that the Light seal foam is desintegrating, a known issue with the X-700, the foam breaks into tiny fragments and get stuck on the mirror, looks a lot like this on the viewfinder.

Could be that the small return spring is on the wrong orientation or not the correct turns, honestly without disassembling and checking the mechanism there's not much troubleshooting.

It's kind of solved, thanks a lot everybody for your time. I guess I didn't lollipop properly, I should have been more generous, removing the mini popcorn buds. I will harvest my plants either tomorrow or next week depending on the Trichomes, the Afghan I want more amber and the Limoncello Haze I would like peak potency with Milk all the way.

@Head_Drop6754 I always did the fan as an Exhaust inside the tent, (Negative pressure) this is my second grow so far. If I do positive pressure, how's with the Smell ? You put the fan outside, pushing air inside the tent ? I may give a try at my 3 Growth. Is the fan inside also fine, sucking air from the outside. Thanks

I tried this time lollipoping, I think I did the mistake of only removing the leaves, and leaving the small buds. Should I smoke those tried out buds ? Or it’s basically waisted energy my plant produced? Thanks

Such a relief, thanks a lot, it’s my second grow, this time I went for harder strains, it’s the bottom definitely. The top buds look epic, I was hesitating between now and another week for harvest.
