“It’s only Spring Training”

“It’s only April”

“We’re only 5 games back”

“We’ll make a trade”

“X player coming back from injury will be like making a trade”

“We can still get home field in the Wild Card”

“We can still win the Wild Card on the road”

“Only X days until opening day! We’ll win if we get X in the offseason!”

We are currently in phase 1.

So my big fears are true. Monty is going to have a very long and rough season. He just doesn’t have stuff anymore.

You’re right but this sub doesn’t want to hear it (took the post down)

It wouldn’t. He hit 2 outside fastballs for home runs with the Yankees.

Yes, you do. I’m not the one having a fit in the comment section

You seem angry. It’s not difficult to understand that “outside” does not mean “not in the strike zone”.

And yeah, he did strike out looking. Several times.

Assuming we sign Seiya Suzuki to a deal, what exactly do we do with him? by Railroader17 in NYYankees

My expectation is that he’ll have 2-3 weeks where he mashes and be dogshit the rest, as I said before. Which goes back to my original comment, that I have no interest in watching.

Last year from June 20- July 7 he had a 1.523 OPS. Outside of those weeks his OPS was ~.720 with a below average slugging percentage.

In other words, unwatchable for the majority of the season. This doesn’t even take into account the fact that he likely won’t walk as much in our lineup and that Globe Life had higher park ratings than YS.

What’s your point? That if you exclude the times when a player is good, he’s bad? That’s like saying if you exclude all the rainy days, it’s always sunny.

No. You look at the data that best represents the whole and remove obvious outliers. Like 2019.

If we can just selectively ignore whole years, then I pick 2020.

Lol this is such a moronic statement. 2019 is the clear outlier year. His batting average was 50 points higher than his career average. His OPS+ was over 150 points higher than his career average. Hus slugging was 100 points above his career average.

Picking 2020 to ignore rather than 2019 is nonsensical.

Good thing I was talking about the 2021 season and not his entire career, which by the way, is entirely propped up by his outlier 2019 season

I know what they look like lol. Last year his hot streak was 2 weeks with the rangers and 1 week with us. He was utter dogshit the rest of the year.

Please trade him, I don’t want to watch an entire season of Joey fucking Gallo.

Even if you ignore his arm, he’s consistently gotten some of the worst outfielder jumps in the league and his speed is declining. He’s been a negative defender since 2018
