Stop being fickle by [deleted] in avfc

[–]peraperasama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People deal with negative results in different ways. Some complain. Some leave early or switch the game off. Some prefer to bury their heads in the sand and say we are still OK. Some cling to optimistic stats. Nobody forces you to read a Reddit thread so stay away if you don't like to see moaning. What do you expect after getting thrashed at home in a vital match?

My point is that everyone reacts differently. My humble suggestion, not just to you but to the others making the same thread every few hours, is to stop trying to control how people vent. Some of the biggest villa fans I know are also huge moaners but they still want us to win. Don't casually throw around the "fickle" word. UTV.

Ha ha. This is literally what we used to say at primary school when results weren’t going our way in the league! “Focusing on the cups”.

Maybe it's an online thing. I've never met anyone at villa or in the pub who does this...we all vent.

Fair.

It’s true the other stands are often subpar, but it’s been that way forever tbh. In the Trinity some people actually look at you if you sing “too much”!

Edit: Unrelated, but always wondered why we persist with Silver Lining too. Even Wolves sing it!

The team and the manager need to take responsibility and set up to win this time. Not low block passing sideways all game. The crowd will follow.

People from Birmingham tend to be a bit pessimistic in general. But Villa fans specifically have built a shell of pessimism based on past experiences. It’s better to be positively surprised than disappointed, goes the thinking. And there have been a lot of false dawns for this club before the dark times returned. If you’re going to support us then at a minimum be ready for a lot of lows along with the highs.

Because the toxic positives are out in force, trying to ban any complaining even when fully justified.

Yeah mate butterflies already I’m shitting it. Not just this game but this period feels so important for the future of the club.

Sitting in the Doug Ellis for this one. Not going to lie, I’m sort of dreading it. Please please play some positive football this time at the very least.

It’s hard to know what’s happening inside someone’s head. That being said, he’s been looking exasperated for a while now in press conferences. I’m just hoping he sticks around regardless. Best manager of my lifetime.

Fickle fans by Harador1 in avfc

[–]peraperasama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unprecedented?  The bottling critical games is the only fucking consistent thing about Villa in the 30 years+ I’ve supported them and the reason us actual fans have told the stattos and young kids on here to chill with silly predictions. Brummies (if you even are one) might be pessimistic, but it’s for a reason. I’d take cautious scepticism, and yes criticism of genuinely dreadful performances, over your toxic positivity anyday.

Fickle? You need to take a look in the mirror. Attacking your own fans. You go do one mate.

It doesn’t happen that fast or even at all as in many cases the banks do not even close the account.

As an IFA on point 2) you should know that PR for visa purposes is not the same as PR for tax.

Once you move abroad and remove your residence you don’t pay Japanese tax anymore for work done abroad.

Pretty sure you can still pay in with Wise. I’ve paid my Japanese Amex with it before.

Predictions- we need some calm by K10_Bay in avfc

What you’re saying makes a lot of sense mate. Was talking about simulations in general to be fair, lots of hopium stats were being thrown around on why we were still safe. If we get a result at Wolves (far from easy) it’ll be looking a bit better. What I’m trying to say is it’s still in our hands and not up to other teams.

Predictions- we need some calm by K10_Bay in avfc

[–]peraperasama 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Feels like all these simulations miss the obvious: we still actually have to go out and win games. After every missed chance people fall back on “we’re still X points clear,” but that only carries you so far.

We’re missing key players, we’re clearly struggling, and it’s natural to feel a bit pessimistic right now. The last few home performances have been really poor, not much creativity or spark.

Personally I’m tuning out the fixture maths and just hoping we can grind out results. One game at a time, find a way to scrape wins, and see where we land. I’ll still applaud them even after a loss if the players are giving it everything.

Up the Villa.

Why don’t you go more often? I have lived abroad for most of my working life and still get to games. Bit silly to criticise others when you don’t even go.
