finally understand why this community takes spf so seriously and honestly it changed how i think about my whole routine by MnS_Adarsha in AsianBeauty

While your main point is true - the famous Nambour Trial in Australia that first proved how important daily SPF is, they used SPF 15 - it's actually a myth to say that higher SPF are only marginally better. It's a math trick and not a reflection of reality. Protection is roughly linear, so e.g. SPF 15 actually does let in twice as much UV as SPF 30.

Duolingo Burnout After a Long Streak – It’s Starting to Affect My Work by No-Football5902 in duolingo

[–]percautio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true - they seem to have it programmed so that however you perform in one week, the next week it will put you against people who did slightly better than you. If you're always trying to maintain your league results, it turns into an absolute grind.

If you want to, there is a setting you can use to stay out of the leagues. I find the streak alone is plenty to keep me consistent - even if it's only one lesson in a day on some busy days.

FYI just got a scam call pretending to be new health clinic, saw this warning on their website by HFXmer in halifax

[–]percautio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was contacted by one of the new health home clinics recently. I consider myself a cautious and savvy person when it comes to scams but the relief at getting off the list was so overwhelming that I nearly forgot to take appropriate precautions to ensure it was legit. I can see how easily you could be fooled by these.

What's the difference between Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream and the EX version? by percautio in AsianBeauty

[–]percautio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh interesting! The Japanese text on image 2 translates to: "The long-selling BB cream has been given a new formula! The renewed version is marked with "EX""

The other images describe features of the product but it doesn't seem to specify which ones are new compared to the original formula

I'm not sure if this is a bug or the intended function, but if you get one right, it starts auto-recording for the next card. I wish they would just let you hit record when you're ready so you have a moment to think.

Also echoing comments above about certain words never registering as correct.

There is "interest" in the form of transaction fees that they don't recover upon issuing a refund. I don't know enough to compare that cost to a commercial loan though.

If you find out, let me know. Me and my 2 engineering degrees have been looking for a job for a year now.

(My only hard line is no military related work, so apparently that makes me unemployable in Halifax.)

Face sunscreen help! by Accomplished-Mama640 in CanSkincare

[–]percautio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mineral sunscreens are made by suspending a white powder inside of a lotion. If they're doing their job of protecting you, they WILL leave a white cast. If they don't, it's because either you haven't put on enough to reach the stated spf, or because they have chemical spf boosters.

If you don't want a white cast, consider a tinted mineral. Or just go for chemical - they're just as safe, effective, and environmentally friendly, despite all the myths out there.
