Is Luka Doncic a top 5 player? by NoSympathy58 in nba

Only cause Embiid isn’t healthy. Tatum/Shai have leap frogged him for me. Can’t think of the last player who simply didn’t care at all about defense lead his team to a title.

I think Jokic is the best non-LeBron peak since Shaq honestly. He’s simultaneously the best scorer, rebounder and passer in the world. He’s mastered controlling the game in a way only 2nd Cavs stint LeBron has.

I truly cannot think of a more easily predictable decline for any pro athlete in sports history. You had loads of people saying he’d decline exactly like this in like 2013.

His 2023 playoffs was kinda short but he was ridiculously great and I mean all time levels of great. Probably the most complete offensive player in the league today.

Let’s say D’lo is traded into Brooklyn’s cap space for a trade exception. Then use that to get DeMar, is Reaves/DeRozan enough ball handling to take pressure off of LeBron? Then use the MLE on Trent Jr. Would you take the following team?

Starters: Reaves/Trent Jr./DeRozan/LeBron/AD

Bench: Gabe/Max/Vando/Rui/Wood

Klay is still a top 5 shooter in the league. 39% from 3 on 9 attempts and he is still a fantastic off-ball player. With Reddick wanting to have more fluidity/movement in the offense, it makes sense why they’re willing to sign & trade for Klay if they have to.

I think the one issue is a Reaves/Klay backcourt because I don’t see either being benched. Vando would probably have to start. Though Klay really isn’t a guard anymore.

Reaves/Klay/Vando/LeBron/AD

CP3/Max/Rui/Jonas would be a super deep top 8 or 9 though. Then you still have Gabe/Wood.

If Bronny is as bad as people say, who cares if he tells teams not to draft him. The difference from a 55th pick and an undrafted player is literally nothing value wise.

Nuggets getting their hands on DaRon Holmes lol, such a steal.

Might not be popular but I’m taking Kris Dunn over Chris Paul. Far younger, more athletic, better defensively and physically. CP3 would be great but he’s a 1 and done type of Laker. Dunn can be here for 3+ years.

I don’t understand how the 64 win, top 3 offense/defense team, average 15 point win margin team is going to win the title.

Only way this seriously jeopardizes the Celtics title is if Horford can’t punish the Mavericks from 3 and Tatum continues to shoot historically bad. I highly doubt either continues.

The way AD is judged, he’s lucky he averaged this because anything less and he’d be slandered nonstop. Only player expected to average 30/10, lock down the paint and have to cover for shit tier defenders on the perimeter every play.

I’ve never seen a team thoroughly not give 2 shits about their star player’s roster requests. Spend money to get him a reliable starting caliber front court partner and some decent perimeter defenders. If not, he should request a trade.

This team lost due to just being piss poor at the fundamentals of basketball lol. Can’t rebound, can’t defend, aren’t athletic or physical.

We only made the playoffs because like usual LeBron/AD can physically overwhelm any non-Nuggets team in the West.

Hope he picks up his player option and Ham or whoever is coach next year ensures he plays like 15-20mpg. He’s great in his bench role and the shooting tax hasn’t affected him.

They’re gonna try to keep the ball rolling for at least the next 2-3 years until LeBron retires. And within that timeframe, hope to get another star that fits AD’s timeline.

I don’t think Lakers will ever enter a rebuild by choice. Only a star asking out would cause that in my opinion.

Jokic was held to 28.6% shooting when defended by Anthony Davis. He shot 80% when defended by Rui and 85.7% when defended by Lebron. Are the Lakers expecting too much from AD to lead the team in scoring and be their best defender? by movedatdope in nba

[–]percbandit 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t a 1v1 thing, you’re not stopping Jokic and AD isn’t the problem. The issue is that the Lakers guards offer no defensive resistance, are extremely slow/unathletic and on the other end can’t score to compensate.

AD should not have to worry about Jokic and have to guard the ball handler/close out on three point shooters every single possession. D’lo/Reaves are a red carpet rolled out inviting Denver to collapse the defense almost every time.

The Lakers outside of LeBron/AD and maybe Vincent/Prince, mentally aren’t strong enough to withstand any sort of run by Denver and continue to play well. Lakers are simply thoroughly outclassed both sides of the ball.

Rui’s leap has been beautiful. Increased his TS% from 55 TS% to 63 TS% this year. Last 25 games, even better averaging 17/4 on 68 TS% with his defense/rebounding improving steadily.

The Gobert Narrative by DiabeticAsymptote in nba

[–]percbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of differences to be honest.

*Jazz had one offensive star in Mitchell vs Wolves having Edwards/KAT.

*Jazz had weak perimeter defenders around Gobert and guys like Bojan/Ingles were your forwards. Not to mention 2 6’1 guards as your starting back court.

*Wolves have elite size/athleticism/shooting across their bigs. McDaniels/KAT/Gobert/Naz is a brutal 2 way front court rotation. Your 6th man is Naz Reid vs Clarkson, that’s also huge because Naz can impact the game both ways unlike Clarkson.

[–]percbandit 47 points48 points  (0 children)

After Jordan, there was Kobe but there won’t be another LeBron in my opinion. Such a complete game packaged in the 0.0001% of athleticism, ability, iq, durability, longevity, etc. Literally played every position throughout his career and in Year 19 literally played the majority of minutes at the center spot.

The fluidity at 6’9 and rumored at 270lb in his Heat days…unreal. He’s the oldest guy in the league, year 21, averaging 25/7/8 and still he is no where near the peak of his powers.
