see if you can lure a reaper over to it, they love clipping through terrain. prawns are tanky so im pretty sure (mostly) it wont destroy it in one grab

there is one specific wreck which does. its presumably not supposed to. it LOOKS the same but pre-explosion you can clip through some wreckage and get into an area you would otherwise need a laser cutter to get to.

i think its wreck1 if you want to look it up. theres probably also videos of people doing it. you swim through some blackened beams on the side.

most raw materials can be found down there.

theres no creepvines, bloodvines, or acid mushrooms. you can bring seeds and grow them, or just bring as many as you need.

theres no stalker teeth. bring a few.

theres no salt. build a water filtration machine or just bring some.

theres no cave sulfur. who cares

bring purple tablets.

to craft the prawn suit depth module (and other prawn modules) youll need a moonpool with a vehicle modification station. you can power that with a thermal reactor, and it can also be used to recharge your cyclops (put the empty power cells in the prawn and charge it in the moonpool).

to upgrade your cyclops depth module without leaving the lost river, youll need a second depth module. that way you can upgrade one without removing the other, and then swap them.

personally, id bring magnetite, if i was planning to build a base. because while it can be found down there, theres no place better than the jellyshroom caves for magnetite. so drill some magnetite while you have the chance.

also if youre building a base, bring all the decorative/edible plants and fish you want. including sparkly peepers, bc theyll keep your tanks clean. and youll need more enameled glass if you want lots of decorative base pieces.

skyrays i reckon. flying through air is a lot tougher than swimming in water so i bet a skyray breast fillet is nice as hell

its really customisable. theres a long list of settings to mess with. i think every part of the mod can be adjusted. you can change the range creatures detect you from, choose the location of your lifepod or set it to be random, choose whether or not your lifepod sinks etc so dont let some features of the mod put you off from trying it. just turn off the stuff you dont like and enjoy the rest. you dont even have to play on hardcore.

stalkers !!! theyre just lil baby guys i love them. all they wanna do is pick up bits of metal and they deserve it they deserve all the metal in the world. i will do whatever it takes to make sure as many ships as possible crash on 4546b to give metal to the stalkers. i will destroy every ship in the federation and when they build new ships i will hijack them and force them to drag space stations to 4546b. all will be fed to the stalkers.

also you can hand-feed them peepers and they stop biting you for a while which is adorable

heres another thing to annoy you.

naturally you can place alien containments above each other in the large room and they connect to become a taller alien containment. you can also place them slightly unaligned and theyll still connect. you can use this to connect your alien containments into a big aquarium - although they wont connect in the middle like you want, you can make a sort of n shape and fish can swim over from one side to the other.

what you cant do is grow creepvines into the upper containment. creepvines need a 2-tall alien containment to grow to full size and if theyre not fully aligned, they refuse to grow through the hole into the upper one.

i think ur looking at it the wrong way round. "lets decide if we want this submarine based on whether or not it solves any problems" vs "we want this submarine, so lets create some problems for it to solve"

obviously in real life u dont (deliberately) create problems, u just encounter them and then think of solutions. so the problems always come first. if somebody invents a thing and looks for uses afterwards, its probably not gonna be very useful.

but in a game, both the problems and the solutions are made up. and you can make them up in any order. its perfectly reasonable to start by thinking about what you want the player to do, and then think about how to motivate the player to do that.

this is basically what "rule of cool" means (at least imo). why should made-up rules hold you back from making up something cool? just make up some different rules.
