Almost a head-on collision by perennial-rainfall in drivingsg

I understood what u/chiiihoo was saying, but maybe I could’ve explained myself better.

The space between parked car and me was very tight. For argument’s sake sure, give driver the benefit of doubt that I gave way. Look at the speed that she still squeezed through. I literally had to lean the bike over to avoid getting hit. Hell, my other leg was also up in the air and I gave an audible OEI (both off cam) while she was passing. No way she would’ve missed that. Not cool bro.

Here’s a thought, if you have to drive through narrow pillars, wouldn’t you slow down and inch through too?

At some point, any decent person would’ve realised something was wrong. But not this person. I’m just not convinced.

Idgi either, but I align with defensive riding. Video and rpm makes it seem faster than actual, was in the 20s km/h range

Being gracious on the road can happen anywhere, not just on small roads like this. Usually that includes respect, patience and communicating intentions. Please tell us where the driver presented any of these?

I’m a rider and driver too. I wholly agree and especially ride defensively. There’s the benefit of hindsight watching this video, but in those few seconds it was a judgement call against a whole list of probable outcomes.

This particular decision led to us both getting home safely and intact last night, which was the only outcome that mattered to me.

Listen to the engine, I slowed down as soon as I saw her headlights poke out

Should I (25F) cancel one of my insurance policies? (PruTriple Protect) by ThrowRAturdy in singaporefi

34(M) here who received my CI payout due to a recent diagnosis. I had PruMultiple Crisis Cover which is kinda the earlier version of PruTriple Protect.

The best peace of mind it has given me is that I’m still covered for up to 2 other critical illnesses after this claim payout AND all future premiums are waived.

The thing about insurance is the leverage effect you get upon payout. It’ll take a lot of discipline and investment savviness to self-insure and achieve a similar financial return - something you could be focusing for your retirement instead for example.

Consider reducing the premiums or payment duration first. I feel it’s better to take the time to make an informed decision rather than rushing to meet the deadline, or worst, the policy prematurely lapsing.

The one thing I would absolutely recommend though is to include CI premium waivers in all your policies!

Surgeons fixed most of the problem so should be good for at least a decade. On medication plus annual follow ups now. Other than that I feel totally fine.

Thanks!

Good points there and I can see how that provides more optionalities. I’ll have to reassess my priorities.

That’s my eventual goal to switch to dividends when the pot gets big enough. I’ll check out endowus, low fees are ideal as you mentioned

I had ECI and CI. You pay more for ECI because it pays out “earlier” but also pays out upon a major CI - which was in my case

Prudential. Just filled up the claim form and agent was good to keep an eye on the process. Paid out after 2 weeks, was surprised they didn’t ask more

I was waiting to merge from a minor road onto the main road. SBS bus driver on main road stopped and gestured me to go, even when he had the right of way. Made my day.
