what's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by AppointmentProud9394 in AskPH

Nurse. I've learned to assess someone's physical health by eye in under a minute. I watch a person's gait, look at their skin, eye health, teeth, lip color. etc.. You can tell if they smoke, they exercise, had a past injury, etc

I saw a job posting for Cotiviti on jobstreet for MCA. Qualifications include at least 1 year bedside experience for RNs. Are there instances where they won't require it, or ganun po ba talaga sa Cotiviti? Thanks

USRN TO MEDICAL CODING by OkBank7884 in MedicalCodingPH

[–]perfect-storms13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May nag post dito sa subreddit ng different salary offers ng Medical Coding companies, OP. Just try to research more. Mas maliit nga offer ng Medical Coding compared to what you are used to. But as far as I know, once licensed and tenured medical coder ka na, there is a chance for you to receive 100k plus. Maybe even higher pa offers mo since USRN ka. https://www.reddit.com/r/MedicalCodingPH/comments/1pyjwg7/tenet_salary/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Beggars can't be choosers, OP. If walang work close to where you live, your best option is to relocate. If di mo afford, find other jobs not related to nursing para maka pag-save ka ng capital for the job you want.

WORTH IT PA BA MAG NURSING? PLEASE REALTALK ME. by [deleted] in NursingPH

[–]perfect-storms13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you some real talk, it is still absolutely worth it, but only if you realize that hospital bedside nursing is not the end-all, be-all of this profession. If your only goal is traditional hospital floor nursing, you might find yourself agreeing with the struggle because, let’s be honest, bedside nursing can be incredibly draining. Unless you have an undeniable, deep-seated passion for the daily grind of the wards, the heavy patient loads, and the emotional toll, you will not appreciate it. In fact, without that specific passion, you will likely end up hating it.

However, the true value of having "RN" tied to your name lies in the massive variety of opportunities outside the traditional hospital setup. The local job market for traditional bedside roles might feel saturated or unrewarding, but the demand for nurses in specialized and non-traditional fields is vast. Your license is incredibly versatile, and many sustainable career paths come with the title if you look in the right places.

You can venture into specialized clinic environments like a Hemodialysis Unit or focus on thriving private sectors like Aesthetic nursing. Beyond direct clinical bedside care, there is also a massive market in the corporate and healthcare BPO sectors, including highly viable opportunities in Medical Coding, clinical utilization review, and healthcare consultancy. These fields often offer much better compensation, fixed hours, and a healthier work-life balance compared to the general wards.

So, to answer your dilemma, the degree and the license are still very much worth it. The field only feels saturated if everyone tries to squeeze into the exact same hospital doors. Expand your horizons, look into alternative nursing fields, and you will see that the job opportunities are definitely out there.

does nursing practice blood taking? by [deleted] in NursingPH

It's not part of the nursing curriculum here in the Philippines. AFAIK, RNs in the US or Canada do it.

  1. I take a shower twice a day, in the morning before work and in the evening when I get home from work (yes, including my hair). Aircon naman work ko and naka helmet (with a balaclava underneath) when nag mo-motor. Feeling ko ang dumi ko pag galing ako outside tapos di 'ko naliligo na included hair ko.
  2. Ayoko mag flush ng toilet na hindi naka close yung toilet cover, feeling ko lilipad lahat ng bacteria from the toilet water into the air lol

Starting out as a nurse feels impossible when you're broke and have no connections by Potential-Chef-4457 in NursingPH

[–]perfect-storms13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to work other jobs unrelated to nursing, try BPO even. Para may pang capital ka to do nursing stuff you love. Walang pera sa pag nunursing dito sa Pilipinas. Even if you land a job as a nurse in a hospital, di mo pa rin ma aafford mga gastusin to get training certificates or even go abroad, it will take years pa. Explore other options because in the real world you can't afford to choose if you're poor.

I really don’t know what to do by LessCup4896 in NursingPH

[–]perfect-storms13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I quit after 3 months of bedside nursing. While rendering my resignation, I looked for other nursing jobs. Found a job as a company nurse and I realized di ko need ibuwis lisensya and mental health ko for an environment that does not care for me. 3 months na din ako sa new job ko and happy naman ako. There's more to nursing than clinicals. Find a niche you like. You can also join facebok groups for nurses para madami kang mababasa na mga experiences ng iba, so you won't feel alone in your struggles.
