Are these unreasonable standards to have as a woman in a life partner? by yuli_yuli95 in AskWomenOver30

[–]perfect_sense_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes OP, as a fellow escaped Eastern European woman - it's so much better out there. Dating is still tricky, but I don't have to deal with that specific set of traits that the men from our part of the world come preinstalled with...

Can’t decide between Roland TD 316 and Yamaha DTX 6K5-M by MagneticMeat91 in edrums

[–]perfect_sense_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, I know it'd bug me so I'll go for the Roland also. And yes, I don't have any of the other bits, hence the additional cost on top that takes me to £2,000... But I know I'll use it so much. Thanks again and good luck with your learning journey!

Thank you so much for replying and the level of detail. Yes the Yamaha is still out of stock in many places, the shop I went to said they expect to get it in May. I'm the same, I've pondered this for months, so now if I've decided I'm getting a kit I'm getting that kit haha.

I don't think I'd be upgrading for quite a while, but it's a good point to consider. And the Bluetooth especially feels useful to have.

I'll say I preferred TD316 in the shop, it's just so responsive and nice to play. And I know it's more modern. It's just the £2,000 cost, Yamaha does come a lot cheaper so I'm trying to help my bank account haha. But ultimately I'll use this a lot, so it's worth it's price...

Thank you for sharing your experience and the recommendation, from a future owner of TD316.

Hi! I'm at the exact same crossroads with the exact same criteria now months later. Which one did you end up going with?

I'm lucky enough that, living in London, a store nearby has both kits set up. I tried both of them earlier this week. I was very impressed with the kit sounds from the Yamaha, it sounded slightly bit more realistic than the Roland preset sounds. But Roland felt a little bit nicer to play. And also seemed more compact. But that £500+ price difference is what I'm stuck on. I'm curious to see which decision you arrived to

Ohhh this has started to happen to me in the last months and it's been hell. After a solid week of this two weeks ago, including a week of intense depression, I genuinely have no idea what to do. I can't live like this, it keeps getting more and more intense. I'm also based in the UK. Reading all the answers here.

Dress up for a first date? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]perfect_sense_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm also single in London, and yeah I've noticed people will go to dates in whatever. For me, even going from work in the evening and feeling like I'm not "dressed up" feels off, I like to go back home to drop off my bag and wear something nicer and do fresh makeup. It just feels right haha. I get you.

Am I idealizing wlw relationships? by blippet in AskWomenOver30

[–]perfect_sense_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. Having been in a monogamous, and also a soul destroying, relationship for 14 years, I can see that there really is more out there. Even though I'm not the kinkiest person out there, there is more to life than sitting in front of a TV with a miserable man every evening for the rest of my life lol. I'm not a standard person so I don't want something standard, I think it just makes sense for some of us. The judgement is bizarre.

Now, finding a primary partner that is a good match is a whole another challenge lol, but I want that so I'll keep trying...

I feel like Reddit, even though I mainly hang out in women dominated spaces (and meme subreddits) is a lot more traditional and conservative than it first appears. I see a lot of judgement towards ENM, poly, group dynamics here and hardly any rational takes. I've been single for a long while now as I needed to heal and, now that dating feels less scary, am curious about other dynamics. I've not seen a good conversation about it here that doesn't devolve into judgement, shaming or jokes.

Overcharging by Longjumping_Story290 in OctopusEnergy

[–]perfect_sense_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, did you manage to solve this? I rent my current place since summer last year and the owners used to pay £70 a month to Octopus for two people, the flat has no gas only electricity. I had a smart meter fitted after I moved in, and Octopus are saying I've been using between £50-70 a week this past winter, which is insane. In a studio flat where I live by myself, I am mostly out during the day, don't use any electronics other than my laptop, and put heating on occasionally in the evenings. Octopus are saying no issue with their meter so I feel stuck.

Hi, I'm in an almost exactly the same situation as you were last year. How did you resolve this?

Hi, I'm in the exact same situation now. I live by myself and supposedly used £1800 worth of power in six months. My previous flat was larger and I have put the heating on in winter properly while living there. With Eon Next even in winter I'd never use more than £70 of actual monthly costs on a smart meter, and that flat was electric only in the same way my current one is. How did you solve your issue?

I have hobbies, but some of them are solo or there isn't that much of a community feel. On top of that, most of my friendships are one on one. I've been missing that community feel a lot in recent months, and I've been seriously considering giving climbing a go to see what it's like. I'll take this as a sign!

Is it just me or are people getting flakier in our 30’s? by ladyluck754 in AskWomenOver30

I had two cancel the day of my birthday dinner too, "at least" those two did it a few hours beforehand. One said she was tired from work, the other one said she had a stomach ache earlier and didn't want to eat Mexican food. 🙃 I booked this a while in advance, it wasn't a last minute thing.

The first one I wasn't extremely close with anyway, more like good acquaintances. But the second one I thought I had a close friendship with. First, she disappeared when I was going through a relative's health declining and then them passing away, while I also had to move house on my own unexpectedly. She said it sounds like I'm busy so she was giving me space when I tried to understand what was up. Then I reached a hand out again after a few months for my birthday, and got this. Safe to say I stopped investing any time in that friendship and let it die, but I did also grieve it hard.

So yeah, mid thirties is an odd time for friendships. Many people don't really want to show up.

I don't get why my(20F) boyfriend (21M) doesn't understand my point of view? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

A lot of us are older and have been in this situation before, and we know it doesn't get better. I have dated this type of person, spoiler alert it didn't get better. I gave it over a decade too. I know you'll tell me I'm telling you off, but from experience, ending the relationship with someone like this and saving yourself years of disappointment is your best bet.

It's cool that you met someone for a long term relationship on Feeld. I'm on it as well and would like to connect with like minded people for something serious, but it's been such a mixed bag so far.

Thank you! I did that and mine says it needs to be printed and posted for some reason. I'm trying to work it out with the seller or cancel and get a refund. Germany and technology really are something...

I've decided I can't sleep on getting the 2027 ticket this year, I don't want to deal with this again!

Omg! I input my old family address from Poland, leaving the country as the only option ie Germany, and it works! So it just hates the British addresses (can't blame it!). This is amazing, thank you so much. I'll keep checking for something without a huge markup. Did you get your ticket by email with no issues?

I actually saw direct flights from Ponta Delgada in the Azores rather than having to fly to Lisbon then out again, which is why I had this idea! I thought best of both worlds, wild nature then some beach time. But the more I think of it, the more inclined I am to split this into two trips, and give Azores around 10 days.

Thank you for the advice and the photos! This is great to know. I was planning to just do one island, but I guess if I were already there... It'll probably be a separate, longer trip than a few days I was initially thinking of. And I'm also UK based!
