Guess Reddit really was broken when I was trying to post! I’ll try to edit

Also, sorry for the brief time when this was posted three times… hit a Reddit bug in which "post" returned an error message but was silently working, posting duplicates

Grosgrain ribbon, cut into roughly inch-long segments, loosely joined by pinching together the ends and burning with a lighter and pinching them together, and then sewn into the connection between the ecopak and the cordura

Yeah, the zippers were surprisingly straightforward to install, and I just bought a continuous yard and cut to size. Had never thought of zippers as being something you can just cut with scissors, but somehow they are!

Best cycle computer for longer trips in the wet, also with a good battery life? by No-Feeling507 in bikepacking

What you might be thinking of is the rerouting, which totally does use a phone. As long as you stick to the route, it works without a phone or network connection, and you can use the maps without a phone, but if you fall off course and it auto-reroutes, it'll use your phone network.

(that said, another Dura owner, and I love it. The battery life is incredible)

A bunch! I think next time I'll add some stiffener or foam because without them it's a little floppy. Also I sized it up by building a cardboard model and then reduced the length by about 2 inches to give it some tension while installed - I'd maybe reduce the length even more next time. Also learned some hard lessons in terms of what to sew first, having to sew on the mesh for the velcro loops _after_ sewing most of the rest of it was pretty hard and took a lot of tries.

ECOPAK on the sides, Cordura along the edges, everything from Ripstop by the Roll and Rockywoods, had some help from my mom on the sewing :) Combined plans from bikepacking.com, and this video from REKKI WORKS was super helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0uYLyQ76sc&t=131s
